Normandy Strawberries 🍓 called ‘Favori’

On ETSY
When you book your train ticket 🎟️ online,

it’s not a bad idea to print it out in the station using the code, if you worry about losing your iPad or needing to recharge etc.
Yesterday I went back
To Trouville/Deauville
For more of those delish Strawberries 🍓 called ‘Favori’ from MAISON FREDERIC.
Fortunately the guy is at the Deauville marché on Saturdays. 🤸‍♂️
In fact he will have berries 🍓 🍓 into OCTOBER!! 🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️
So you know where I’ll be heading every weekend ☺️ ❤️🍓
I can think of worse places to go…
After eating a bunch of berries and a quickie bagnat tuna sandwich 🥪 I headed for the beach 🏖️
I had been warming up
On the train.
The Deauville parasols are so yummy
I sat down on the boardwalk, took off my shoes,
Put my feet 🦶 in the sand and got doodling.
The weather was sunny 🌞 and breezy. Perfect
After a bit I headed along the quai to catch the little boat 🚤
Le Bac de Deauville. It takes you over to Trouville (1,80€) in like 3 minutes and saves walking back to the train station and over the bridge.
In Trouville, first things first. I went looking for the wonderful Camembert ice cream,
I had 2 years ago. “Yes, we had it 2 years ago…but no more”. I settled for Black sesame but it wasn’t the same. When in Normandy you must eat Camembert.
Heartbroken 💔 I went to browse the seafood 🦞
Gorgeous but I was not hungry 🤷🏻‍♀️
And no must-have Normandy moules either (in the orange pots.
Instead I trudged up the hill to le Musée Villa Montebello to look at old paintings of fisherman and fishing boats. There is a big Fete de la Mer next weekend celebrating the fishing boats.
Or watch an amusing video on the history of bathing at Trouville where you can snooze or giggle 🤭
Finally down to the Trouville beach 🏖️
Proust spent summers in the beach-side resort of  Trouville-sur-mer.
On the boardwalk I stopped
For the essential moule marinière (17€) at Chez Péppy’s, one of a million similar places on the boardwalk but the view was sensational 🏖️
One more ice cream cone 🍦 & I dragged myself to the train & slept the whole way 😴
I’m going back next Saturday for more berries 🍓 and beach painting.

As if France needs more tourists, I think the Tourism Board of France should hire you. Yes, I want to go to Normandy just for the strawberries alone. Your pictures and yummy captions make one want to immediately book their airfare.

Trouville...Now where else had I heard about Trouville? Ah!!! À la Recherche du Temps Perdu! Trouville was one of Marcele Proust's favorite resorts. À l'ombre des jeunes filles en fleurs.

Exactly both Proust and Flaubert went there along with painters Monet, Eugene Boudin.

oH, Carol, WONDERFUL!! SO FULL OF LIFE, "REAL" LIFE!! America has been Iin a sad place these days, many of us too worried about the politics. I for sure needed a shot from the WORLD OF EUROPEAN TREATS AND HAPPINESS. Indeed we are all in this LIFE TOGETHER. You give me HOPE and COURAGE. THANK YOU. 🐻❤️ Carla

    2. Not sure how you might get there without a car, but I think you would like the Haras du Pin!

  11. Reading your blog post and seeing your photos made me feel like I was right there with you in Trouville/Deauville! It looks like such a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of Paris. I love your paintings and sketches of the people on the beach, so full of life <3 And I’m glad to see the Strawberry Man was there! Moules marinières are my favourite too. Great tip about printing out the ticket in case your phone battery dies, so easy for that to happen after a full day out! Xx
