Mille et Une Orchidées, Jardin des Plantes

On Tuesday I went to the celebration of the 10th anniversary edition of "A Thousand & One Orchids"

I visited last year

But this year was a special celebration.
There are 2 pathways to follow inside les grandes serres.
One designed by
Stéphane Marie (from the program "Silence, ça pousse"/Silence, it’s growing).
T
he other route by the museum team of gardeners and botanists.

Just being inside this tropical forest in the middle of Paris
Is the best
escape from Paris’ grey skies.. And you can climb up several levels to view the panorama of the greenhouse.
Plus background birdsong transports you instantly away.
A spectacular ‘tree’ of orchids reaching to the ceiling was created for the 1001 Orchidée celebration.
The
annual exhibition is on from 8 Février- 6 Mars
With 700 orchid varieties to discover and many animations.
Everyone runs to Jardins Luxembourg and forgets the wonders of Jardin des Plantes . Remember the snow leopard from their menagerie.
An exciting Felins/cats exhibition is coming up 22, March at the muséum
national d’Histoire naturelle in the Jardins.
The best place to be during
cherry blossom time is Jardin des Plantes.
I enjoyed making contour drawings ✏️ at the exhibition. It’s fun  to try.
At home from the sketches and photos.
You can access the Jardin
by Metro, bus or on foot.
*Be sure and book your ticket (5-7€)before going.

Oh it looks beautiful, I love orchids. One of the hardy plants I can grow. They love being ignored, just bloom on! Thank you for your posts.

I wish Monique. It definitely is not around the corner, but the Grandes Serres is a grand escape.

  15. Oh, beautiful! We were there in September and I'm afraid we didn't go inside, it was too hot to even consider going into a hot humid room. Now I see what we missed! Perhaps next time I am in Paris...a girl can dream!
