A Valentine to ❤️ Christian Dior’s divine muse, Mitzah Bricard.
And ❤️ to léopard 🐆 prints
Mitzah Bricard created the print motif ‘Jungle’
For the mad proliferation of leopard 🐆 prints (these scarves from Inoui Editions) seen everywhere in Paris lately.
Mitzah loved anything leopard. Some said she swaned around the atelier in just leopard 🐆 skins…Dior called her ‘leopardess’.She wore a chiffon leopard scarf knotted at the wrist (rumored to cover a suicide scar).
Recreated in the new Dior Mitzah collection. Bonjour Anya ❤️
FYI Error Alert 🚨 Art historian/tour guide, Rosemary Flannery informed me the Empire chaise was part of the musée Marmottan’s collection . Monet never lived there. Monet never sat on that Empire chair. Dommage.
Another oversight- I could not fit in Napoleon’s fabulous battle Camp bed with it’s LÉOPARD 🐆 rug. You can visit les Invalides to see it. Napoleon’s enchantment with Egypt drove him to bring back many trophies that inspired the new ‘Empire’ style. Just visit Josephine’s Malmaison.
BALZAC Paris must be considered leopard 🐆 print headquarters. You can find this chic, pas cher sac, plus socks, scarves, leggings, Ts, baskets (running shoes), belts, purses, undies etc.
You used to be able get leopard eclairs back in the day at Fauchon 😳 but sadly no more.
Only the French could have leopard lollipops/sucette.
You can find très delish le pain léopard at BO&MIE. I liked it 👍
If you plan on leopard hunting in Paris, please do not miss the Menagerie in Jardin Des Plants. The elegant leopards are mind-blowing. The Félins exhibit will open in March.
Animal prints will always be IN in Paris thanks to Mitzah and Dior and their special relationship
And last night…a leopard mask 🐆
I always am excited when I see a new post pop in from you. It was 11:01 am here in California and I wasn’t ready to go to sleep but nothing online was keeping my attention, then your beautiful drawings kept me enthralled! Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
ReplyDeleteOops, I meant pm!
ReplyDeleteOoooh! Nice. Love that bag from Balzac. Unfortunately, sold out. And your leopard drawings are perfect!
ReplyDeletelove leopard prints but oh those eclairs!!!
ReplyDeleteSo you LuLu❤️
DeleteThe idea of un pain léopard fascinated me so i searched "le pain léopard bo+mie" and clicked the "Images" category - ooh la la! I may try making a loaf of brioche or pain de mie. This was such a fun post! Merci from -karen. [scarves at Inoui are stellar; i'm feeling covetous]
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen ❤️
DeleteI have no idea how BO&MIE gets that bumpy texture?!
The supermarket I shop at in Victoria, Australia has bread with a similar effect on top … they call it Tiger bread! 😊
DeleteThis was a fun post. I love the leopard print. I have shoes, t-shirts, scarves, and a mask. Thank goodness I don’t wear them all at once!! Nice to know Miztah was behind it all. Interesting about the scarf tied around the wrist. That would be something only the French could accomplish…I have trouble clasping bracelets.🗼❤️🐆
ReplyDeleteGood for you Ga! 👏👏👏
Deletewhy not all at once?
Make a statement!
I love the outfits! But for me to wear something that is attention-getting would take practice. Another bridge in my life I have to walk across. Thanks for the inspiration. Anabel
ReplyDeleteBon Courage 👍 ❤️
DeleteHmm…'If you're fair and sweet, don't wear it,' declared (re leopard print) Christian Dior after the 1947 debut of his 'New Look' collection.
ReplyDeleteI think we all have at least one item in an animal print in our wardrobes. Thank goodness we now use prints and not skins.
Thank you Bonnie.
DeleteI forgot that saying
I do not have any animal prints 🤦♀️
I wanted to run out Saturday and get the sac & scarf, but I stayed in and kept drawing ✏️😵💫
Such a beautiful homage to Dior! You even got that elegant leopard foulard for the wrist in your letter, its all about the details and you think of everything :-) Learned so much about Diors muse Mitzah. I love leopard prints and I hope that Balzac bag will be in stock soon! I signed up to be notified :-) Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you dear Solli ❤️
DeleteI think I will get on the 🐆 Waiting List too
This was fun. I am still at the eclairs. They are so beautiful ! Lynne
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming post! I recall you were collecting leopard print photos when we were there. These posts take a lot of effort between the historical and the random sightings. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteThank you Cindy
DeleteYour letter is in the poste 💌
My middle name = Random Sightings !
DeleteVery fun post - I could use one of those eclairs about now - they should really think of bringing them back.
ReplyDeleteI agree 👍 it was Christophe Adam who designed them
DeleteOh my
ReplyDeleteCarol, WHAT FUN!!! THANK YOU!
CAN’T WAIT FOR MY LEOPARD LETTER TO ARRIVE!!!
❤❤🤎🤎 CARLA
Love all your letters and this was so inspiring. After three years of jeans and sweats I’ve dug up an oversized leopard print blouse circa 1990s and some good things to wear with it. Maybe I’ll even get to Paris to wear it there.
ReplyDeleteYou have made the first step.
DeleteNow to buy a ticket 👍 CG
Carol! You wonderful woman! You have truly captured the beauty of the Christian Dior with this stunning illustration!
ReplyDeleteYour joyous letter arrived in the post today. Viv Groskop
