Bear’s Paris Christmas Letter

Its one of those things. You can live with someone for 6 years and still not really know them until you have to draw them. Then all is revealed.
Both Bear and I were deeply, madly smitten with the Angelina Advent calendrier.
This is one advent calendar that did not get escape this year, even though the contents were a tad disappointing. No matter we forced ourselves to eat every last treat in 1sitting. The 24 treats are supposed to be eaten over the 24 days before Christmas, one a day...ahem.
The perfect inspiration for the December Paris letter, including portraits of Bear, friends and family.
Bear has been many times to Angelina in case you were wondering.
Galeries Lafayette is also bear-focused for their December holiday windows.
Even if they are Arctic polar bears.
All made of white paper created by Lorenzo Papace with painstaking detail and delicacy inside and through out the store. by
Inside the store a giant white ferris wheel turns with bears sitting in each compartment.
And the tree is white cutout paper as well. I think its paper..not sure, but a nice change from the usual glitz.
The Galeries Lafayette Montparnass branch has simply big bears and penguins. I was desperately looking for something to buy so I could take home their adorable Christmas bear bag.
You easily can get your name on the December Angelina letter or a friend's. Thanks for reading Parisbreakfast. If you like this post and want to support it, buy Paris letters and watercolors or forward to a friend.

  1. More about the Christmas paper decorations at GALERIES LAFAYETTE and a video. To bring the paper creations of Lorenzo Papace to life, Galeries Lafayette has called on Papermaker Arjowiggins and its two departments Creative Papers and Graphic Papers. Arjowiggins, a Franco-British papermaker since 1770.

  2. I'm curious as to the tidbits in the Angelina calendar & how they could stay fresh for 24 days.

  7. Dear Carol, thank you so much for letting us in on what dear Bear has been up to. There is just something about him that always makes me smile.

That bear shopping bag is charming...so simple and effective.

My favorite London windows were Liberty's and Fortnam's. The other big shops somehow just seemed a bit stingy with the decorating. Great to see that's not the case in Paris. Any day now, I will leave my own version of Santa's workshop, and take some photographs of NYC windows. xo

  11. No, unfortunately I did not.
Though I did a very similar design for the November 2014 Paris letter and sent it to the PR person at the time.
    Hmmm...
    C'est la vie.

  15. Sweet! I love the Bear sketches! I'm at work and couldn't find your email address in my personal webmail folder, as it's screwy at work, but Claudia and Morgan/Eric got your gorgeous paintings yesterday and they were both ecstatic! Claudia called me and cried, because it means a lot to her--that trip to Paris was her 5 yr anniversary breast cancer-free, and Tucker is her best friend! So it meant a lot...and Morgan's first trip out of the US was to Paris, so she was all excited. She said now we need a story book for children with your work! xoxoxox thanks a million,Carol! You're so good.
