Sophia's Dollhouse Project

Laduree Macarons for Sophia, original watercolor,9" x 11"

Sometimes I get funny requests from PB readers, like a Mumbai CEO wants to order macarons for his bosses' private jet. I get a lot of orders for real macarons. If only I could bake and if only I had a patisserie like Sophia's dollhouse project.

Laduree Ladureevoila Sophia's dollhouse project
Laduree"I am very pleased with the way it turned out and would be delighted for you to do a post.
I am making a very, very big dollhouse and was searching for French minis for it one day on the web. I found the facade on the website of La Boite a Joujoux, the miniature shop in Passage Jouffroy.
LadureeThe picture on the back wall is the ceiling that I manipulated on the computer and then glazed with stained glass medium to add the brush strokes. The chef doll is by Marcia Blackstrom.
Laduree Laduree ...for quite a long time and enfin.
Laduree At 20€ I decided it was just too tiny to go with other pastries and returned it the next day with no regrets. I figured out how to make my own boxes happily.

Laduree Et voila!

Laduree BIG MERCI Sophia for sharing your dollhouse dreams with us.
Simply adorable!

  1. I had so much fun looking at that cute box. I would love to make one of those, it is just so cute. Thank you for sharing it today. It made me smile looking at all those details.

  2. OMG, now I'd say Sophia is obsessed!! LOL. She really put her heart into that! Your painting is just beautiful, Carol. I'd take one of your painted macarons over the real thing any day.

  3. Sophia's project makes me want to turn myself into a miniature person. Hmm, but then I couldn't eat the extra large macarons that Laduree makes.;-)

    A great miniature project indeed!

  5. I'm not usually much for doll houses, but this is on another order entirely. This is life made small. Quite quite wonderful.

I understand that you can't bake--but I can. Do you know where I might find a recipe for those FRENCH macarons? I would love to give it a shot.

  6. PIEPLATE Please check out Tartelette's site, Pastry Queen of Macaron Land.
Also look at the article Tartelette did for Dessert"s Magazine.

Those walls are just incredible! Absolutely gorgeous!
Where do people get all this talent (and money!) from?

20 euros for a teeny box?
You did good on your own, Carol!

  9. Anonymous12:45 PM

That was unbelievable- I can't believe the time it must have taken her.

  10. Anonymous12:53 PM

Laduree should hire you for sure. So pretty, Carol!

    Those little macarons are perfection.

Carol this is just STUNNING!! It takes my breath away each time I look at it, GAWD you're sooo good!! I also agree with loveitaly. Laduree has quite an incredible Ambassador available to them in YOU. It makes me wonder if they are aware of your amazing talent and inspiring marketing program ;)
You have captured and enchanted people around the entire globe and Laduree benefits HUGELY... though they may not realize their good fortune does not "all" come from within. thinkst they should be sending for you in their private jet and tempting you with all kinds of goodies ~ kwim??

  15. Sophia,
Wow. What a project. Congratualtions! and you PB. you and your tempting macarons.. I could use five or six about now.. no prob standing in that line while drooling at all the goodies. ;-)

  16. Oh, Carol,
that patisserie is the sweetest obsession right after your macarons,
if I may say so. Compliments to Sophia! :-)

Just love your blog/website! I look forward to checking on the new paintings every day, and the latest posts on miniatures has been so excited. I am a miniature collector and had visited the shops in Passage Jouffrey (sp?) this July. I ate as many macarons as I could but never got one from Laduree though I did stare at the windows in one on the Champs-Elysee.

  19. That little Laduree shop is so cute. I had such a great time looking at that. Now you just need to add a lineup and it'd be perfect.

  20. what a gorgeous little patisserie, my daughter and I have been oohing and ahhing over the details, especially the tiny macaroons in the Lauduree boxes.
