La Vie en Rose

  • I loved Rachel Khoo's 'Ingredient of the month' post and painted her cherries but made them pink.
  • Today I walked out the door and there was a hot pink/rose secretary chair. Just what I need.
  • The rest of the day was a succession of hot pinks...
  • The Tuilleries gardens carney is going at full speed
  • Always a bit of a surprise on elegant rue de Rivoli...
  • But then Paris is kids town.
  • Terrifying twirling rides
  • In hot pink too
  • Little girls in their pink summer dresses...
  • And the guys too unless they both work at the carney...
  • I bought a black backpack today for carrying art supplies in Giverny and elsewhere. I wish I'd got hot pink....
  • The rest of the Tuilleries are peaceful
  • And bucolic. We've been very lucky with the weather - breezy and mild of late.
  • I went into Swatch in the Louvre planning to get a new band and walked out with a pink watch to match my new chair. Go figure ;))

Dior and La fête des Mères

And for maman this weekend. What are you planning?
Why not run over to Eric Chauvin for some pretty fleurs?
     22, rue Jean Nicot 75007
Pick out exactly the rose you want in the courtyard.
Ah, the perfect pale pink bouquet pour maman tres rafinee.
A quick Metro up to Printemps to get maman.
    Pourquoi pas?
You'll be so inspired by the windows.
The perfect grosgrain pale pink ribbow.
     Pink ribbons everywhere.
As if you were stepping into Christian Dior's atelier..
Imagine you're the sorcerer's apprentice checking the new designs.
For Miss Dior Cherie new bottle...dring...dring
It's Natalie Portman...she wants to come by.
Would maman like perfect pink suede slippers to go with her bouquet?
Plus Pierre Herme's newest macaron, Jardin Parfume
    I ate mine yesterday...exquise
     Une aquarelle pour maman?
     et une petite chien aussi.
Mais maman will NEVER eat Carte D'Or ice cream!
    What were you thinking chouchou?
Call Amorino for a 'tulip' gelato delivered a la porte.
Nice to dream a little isn't it?
Bon Week-End all Parisbreakfast mamans et enfants!

    Paris Pinks

Thanks to you I wasted easily an hour this morning pinning Pinterest pinks. (An hour I don't have since I am NOT packed and this trip I would like to remember to take my makeup so I don't have to replace it for a lot more $$$ in Paris!). We made these gorgeous pink framboise macaron shells at Chef Marthe Brohan's private class at her home.
    More to come another time.
Paris pink renoncules on rue Vavin.

Pink French writing at Boulangerie Secco

     on rue Jean Nico

     Sooo pink.

     Spring pink yaourt at Monop

Put a pink ribbon on it and you know you're in Paris.

     At parfumeur Annick Goutal.

On rue Oberkampf an R-rated pink bow.

Hot, hot pink scarf goes on anything in Paris
Green leaves are essential to make your pinks PINKER on rue Raspail at Sunday Bio marche.
A touch of green makes a marsipan bun from La Mere de Famille pinker.
     See, it's universal.
    Bears love ice cream!
A pink gateau mold that looks surprisingly like the cover of Pierre Herme Pastries book.
    What do you think?
Along with inspiring me to make ice cream and showing me how to put a PIN IT button in my browser(!) my niece suggested I might...ummm...work on my posture.
    This is a pink reminder.
    Practice practice practice
Then I might look like this gorge Printemps watercolor illo by Aurore de la Morinerie TOMORROW in Paris! Please pray I get packed in time and I don't forget my MAKEUP etc.
    Cheers, Carolgxx

    Desperately Seeking Roses...

English Tea Rose I've been desperately seeking roses in my neighborhood, Astoria...
    It's ain't like Paris here :(
True we have been having heavy rains.
Here's a bud desperately trying to become a rose...
Rose des PeintresSome other people have all the roses!
    WAIT!
A budlette is trying desperately to open!
    You Go BUD!!!
Yellow Rose of TexasI thought roses and macarons would make a good watercolor combo.
Little did I know the local roses would elude me...
    Et voila!
A local rose has decided to show it's pretty face :)

    Merci!
Reflection of a cherryA lack of roses meant the spoons and cherries get a SECOND ACT!
