Of MARCHÉ DES ENFANTS ROUGES, rue de Bretagne.
Simply not the same as Surf City Cherry Stones.
(all unsatisfactory -empty shells!)
I started making my own spaghetti Vongole.
The last time at the poissonnerie I ended up with a KILO (2.5 pounds) of clams, so I’m taking a rest from Spaghetti Vongole for a while.
I hope it doesn’t take 6 years to rebuild
le Marché des Enfants Rouges🙏

So sad…yes, had visited there.
ReplyDeleteSo sad to lose such a vibrant piece of history. You did such a good job of capturing it on your map!!
DeleteThank you! ❤️
DeleteThe website link made me wish for a vibrant multi-culti life. I will do one special thing today. I will also learn about Les Enfants Rouge.
ReplyDeleteSo sad…Shannon G
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to see this....awful what the world is coming to!
ReplyDeleteBy any chance, is your drawing with Marché des Enfants Rouges available? I would love to purchase it. I still remember visiting the place a long time ago. K
Thank you, yes it’s up now.

I have to put Reggiano on all pasta’s. It’s not the same. LYNNE
ReplyDeleteWe first visited many years ago and stood inline to get our sandwich from Alain Miam Miam. Quite a memorable experience. So sad about the fire but I'm sure they will rebuild.
ReplyDeleteHis sandwiches were world 🌎 famous. I think I had one once. Bucket list.
DeleteJust tragic! Hope Paris can rebuild. I never went there but did visit the Marais.
ReplyDeleteI loved going there. All the smells, the vast collection of fishies, the vendors...the whole vibe of the place was fantastic. It will be sorely missed.
ReplyDeleteYes, just walking through was a mood upper - such a lively, happy place.
DeleteSo sad that it has been lost to a fire! Touching that it was named after the nearby orphanage with its children dressed in red clothing. Hopefully it will be rebuilt, but much is lost trying to replicate an original. Love your clams vongole…your creativity shows even in your cooking!
ReplyDeleteThe renovation in 2000 was a replica of an older marché.
DeleteLet's hope it can be restored as it is a cultural icon. Also it is the food industry, suppliers, cleaners, and related merchants who are out of a job because of the fire. That is a tragedy as employment is key. It can be redone but with a better safety system installed perhaps. I wish all well about this. A relative has been through many things in the food industry and this is one of the worst things to happen.
ReplyDeleteHow sad, I didn’t know about this place but it looks great. Hope they can rebuild it.
ReplyDeleteHope no one was hurt.
ReplyDeleteFortunately no one was hurt. It occurred around 3:00 am in the morning 🙏
DeleteA huge loss. I hope it is restored.
