Saturday we celebrated
La Grand Épicerie’s 10 year birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 of their Signature line of Products 👏
In the insane heat 🔥 I went running
Over to meet SOLLI.
Their big faux cake was in the summer color - pale lemon 🍋 yellow…more to come on that.
Gratis Mini chocolate cakes
Marshmallows/guimauve, an essential at any birthday 🎉 celebration.
As are fruity jells
There was a raffle
Everyone won a prize who could wait patiently online. I won truffle chips. One of my favorite things.
If you ever get a chance to visit a truffle marché, do not pass it up!
Another tasting.
I was too late for blueberries 🫐 & fraises 🍓
Saturday shoppers at Grand Épicerie
Can be depended upon dressing well, even the ice cream 🍦 eaters
And bike 🚲 riders.
SOLLI got her cute blue-checked handfan/éventail à main in Bon Marché (fortunately it was gone when I went looking 👀).
I was shooting 📸 fashionable ‘backs’ in Bon Marché
Security 👮 stopped me.
“I’m only shooting backs,”I said in my defense.
”I know,” she said,“Why?”
“I’m an artist and I’m going to draw ✍️ them.
Do you want to see my sketchbook?”
“No, she said and went off, keeping an eye 👁️ on me, a person of suspicion.
Sometimes being an artist 👩🎨 can save you from arrest, detention or worse
As for the HOT summer color, Lemon 🍋 Yellow
Princess Anne was seen wearing
lemon.
Monoprix has Lemon 🍋 jelly shoes.
My pool 🏊 which I’ve been visiting to cool my brain 🧠 has lemon walls.
A pensive girl on the bus (not in lemon)
fun!
ReplyDeleteStay cool! Enjoy the pool. Too hot.
ReplyDeleteThe cold, wet T-shirt + fan does the trick 🧊
DeleteCalled Evaporative Cooling.

I do enjoy your blog and the memories it brings of many visits to Paris. Today’s memory was quite different though: I will be 75 in two weeks and I had a pair of those jelly shoes when I was 11!
ReplyDeleteThe jelly shoes came back in fashion a few years back
DeleteThe lemon 🍋 color is a first!
Loved this blog Carol and Solli took such a beautiful photo of you. I also want Solli's pretty fan. Stay cool. Good that you have a pool nearby. -Suzanne P.
ReplyDeleteSOLLI has great taste and a wonderful eye 👁️
DeleteThose marshmallows look wonderful! Do they usually have them, or were they a special treat? I’ll look for them next visit!
ReplyDeleteThe marshmallow maker was there.
DeleteYes they are at the pastry counter.
I have browsed them many times…
Love this post, and love LGE .....merci, Carol! Patty, Mpls
ReplyDeleteLove ❤️ the pictures LYNNE
ReplyDeleteWow, only 10 years for La Grande Épicerie? Why does it seem like it’s been there forever?! Glad you went to the party, don’t you love parties where the guests receive gifts? You are looking cool, calm, collected, and lovely in the heat. Stay safe. ❤️
ReplyDeleteTHANKS BONNIE ❤️
DeleteYou are so right! Gift the guests gifts and petit treats.
It makes such a difference in the vibe.
Very thoughtful of Grand Épicerie
Such a lovely pic of you, Carol!

LINE AND WASH
I too am surprised that La Grand Epicerie has only been there for 10 years. Looks like a grand celebration and love the picture of you and that sunny lemon cake.
ReplyDeleteSuki, I think they are celebrating their signature line of goods. I will correct that 👍
DeleteStay hydrated if at all possible! Thank you for venturing out in the heat! My friends in Albi are experiencing 104 degrees..awful!
ReplyDeleteThe Sud-Ouest would get hit too 🥵
DeleteWhat a great photo of you! Stay cool, Nancy
ReplyDeleteThank you 🥰
DeleteJe m’appelle CAROL! ❤️ Dorrance
ReplyDeleteCarol - whenever i read your fun .. informative …delicious posts I have that strong urge to be back in Paris..
ReplyDeleteThey are ever inspiring- MERCiii. Dorit
What lovely summer outfits, everyone looks tres chic. Unfortunately, here in San Diego not many people make the effort. Missing European fashion
ReplyDeleteSome Parisians are very stylish merci Dieu 🙏
DeleteQuite simple & no obvious name labels imo
Do you have a friend who has air-conditioning that he could stay with till this heat passes. It’s very dangerous.
ReplyDeleteDrink water until you float. AWA CATERING
No…unless he owns a department store.
DeleteN’existe pas en Paris for the most part.
One adjusts.
I did just buy PAIN DE GLACE - cold 🧊 bricks to put in the bed 🛏️ at night from Picard, the frozen food store.
I agree great photo of you Carol! This looks like a tasty and fun outing, despite the heat. Lemon yellow is never going to suit me, I have to have a brighter strong yellow.
ReplyDeleteUmbrella or wide sun hat are good for extreme heat. Also only really go out during the day if you’re going to an air conditioned place/pool/shaded park. A mist bottle is also good for heat to spray on yourself. I sometimes put a wet face washer on my forehead at night too.
Move in the early morning and evening, I do like it when you can go for a walk in daylight at 8.30/9.00pm.
