I am behind reporting all my comings and goings. Tuesday I heard photographer, Meredith Mullins at Adrian’s monthly meetup
Talk about her recent 2 trips to Japan at Cafe du là Mairie. I arrived early to get a good seat but had no view of the screen 🤷♀️
Peggy, sitting next to me asked,
“Did you get her permission to sketch her?”
I asked, “Are you a lawyer?”
She said,”No, I’m a New Yorker.”
I do not miss New York. 🙄
Coming home from the movies 🍿 I saw a big crowd on 36 rue Saint-Andres des Arts in front of a place called PATATE 🥔 🍟
This place is HOT The word is the French fries are very good 👍
By the way it’s all about TOPPINGS. Toppings are trending in Paris. I know…a little late to the party 🎉
SOLLI was drooling over LaCrèma’s Tiramisu ice cream 🍦with toppings. This place is the size of a closet on 19, rue Soufflot with lines around the block. I went during the week with NO Aline and got vanilla, no toppings, which is made with about 100 vanilla beans and kind of grey color. It was good.
Remember the 20+ toppings at MIKA GREEK Ice Cream? 🍦
Food expert Géraldine taught me years ago, when I was all excited about apricot sausages - NATURE is where it’s at. Straight up, simple flavors or none at all is best 👍They cannot mess around with bad ingredients and make them taste good if the basic product is not good. What do you think? 🤔
Géraldine now owns her own fabulous coffee bean 🫘 shop, COFFELIA in the 9th at 45, rue du Condorcet. If you brew your own coffee ☕️ go there!
Do you watch ALICE IN PARIS? I know her accent is a little funny but she makes a lot of sense style-wise in my opinion. I tend to dress monochromatically (in New York black) without much imagination 😬 Something has to change.
At least I’m better at spotting chic in Monoprix than figuring out what to wear in Paris
To visit the week-long annual FETE DU PAIN 🥖
Sadly It has become a very crowded, giant boulangerie offering overpriced (everything was 5€)viennoiserie 🥐 you can get at your local.
I did love ❤️ the accordian 🎵 guy with the cat 🐈⬛ on his chest under an umbrella ☂️ It was Very hot last Friday.
Last Friday was a day of multiple Vide Greniers -
And I’m trying to get the PARIS LETTER done & 📮 this week.

What a Paris life! Researching shops, coffee shops. Pastry shops, boutiques, vide greniers and the like. All day strolling Paris is a great way of living. And of course having icecream is terrific IMHO. Love, Isabelle
ReplyDeleteI do check out Alice's comments and instructions. Here is SoCal flip-flops may be worn year round by a lot of the citizens regardless of the weather. If you put on something more than jeans and a tee you are noticed..'going somewhere special?' The worst is pajamas and slippers at the local Vons. I try to adhere to being dressed and prepared to be seen even when taking out the trash. I love the French approach and the way of curating a wardrobe with select pieces that last.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you have been busy, covering everything we want to see. We will arrive in Paris with our 15 yr. old granddaughter, her first visit, next week. I have starred Patate on my map as I'm sure that will please her. Thanks, again, for all your updates and tips.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, you are one busy lady! How fabulous that you can walk out your door and there is always something going on. And, the food available to you is inexhaustible; eat-in, take-away, cuisine from many cultures! Lucky you! ❤️
ReplyDeleteI always loved going to the fete du Pain and am sorry that's it's become less than it was once upon a time. Love those sketches.
