Every February 2nd, SOLLI and I meet for La Chandeleur.
We always go to La Crêperie Bretonne on 56, rue du Montparnasse, 75014.
We have been going every year for La Chandeleur since 2015. That’s 11 years!
Within 15 minutes, it is jammed-packed and jumping. Every seat is taken.

It does make me
Miss St. Malo.
Like Groundhog Day in the US, Chandeleur is a harbinger of Spring 🌸 to come, maybe because the 🥞 are round like the Sun 🌞

What a lovely holiday! I’d never heard of La Chandeleur before reading your post. A celebration of “bringing back the light” is much more joyful than Groundhog Day.
ReplyDeleteWell…there’s nothing yummy to eat 🥞😊
DeleteThank you for introducing me to another French tradition. Love savory crepes, so will put this restaurant as a must do when next in Paris. Awe…St Malo…what a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteCafe Breizh is very good in Paris…but more sophisticated
DeleteJust lovely! Thank you for sharing your day.
ReplyDeleteYou’re welcome Judith ❤️ Nice to share 🥞
DeleteYum! Love rue du Montparnasse with its insane number of crêperies. Your galette looked fabulous. Really, how does anyone have room for a desert crêpe?! I like a bolée de cidre with my galette. I have never tried lait ribot, you have me intrigued. Lovely tradition that you have with Solli. ❤️
ReplyDeleteI love thé cider too! Both are traditional & yummy
DeleteSo fun to do this tradition with you every year darling ❤️ felt like a short getaway ti Brittany without leaving Paris!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun for me too SOLLI 🥳 🥞
DeleteWhat a delightful post and such a lovely tradition for La Chandeleur to go with your friend Soli to La Crêperie Bretonne. The crepes look so delicious and I love the blue and white cider cups too. Thank you so much Carol for sharing these beautiful photos and tradition with us. -Suzanne P.
ReplyDeleteGee, I’d even take the DYI at Carrefour! Craving crepes! 🥰
ReplyDeleteI know! I was so tempted 🤤
DeleteYUM. Thank you for a lovely tour, as always. Best, Virginia
ReplyDeleteGreat post as always, but if your friend Solli is a Paris-based photographer specializing in food photography, I attended an online presentation by her this morning which was excellent. Part of an event called Out of Chicago Live.
ReplyDeleteYES That’s SOLLI! Karmic Destiny. Isn’t she terrific 👏👏👏
DeleteYes, very cool coincidence. Anyway, I really liked her session and, after this conference is over (runs 3 days), I'll be checking her website out. I'm writing as anonymous because Blogspot needed a URL but responded that my website was not a valid URL. No worries, but I should also say that I've been following you for years and really enjoy your posts.
DeleteCheers, Robin
Beautiful post! And now I have to go to your Crêperie asap!
