Last Saturday I ran out to buy envelopes💌…
Somehow I ended up inside Carl Marletti’s excellent patisserie. There are ropes outside to control unruly crowds. So far no security guards or bouncers. Notice the Napoleonic tricorne hat dividers on the counter top!
Of course I got his prize-winning tarte au citron meringuée. Was there a choice? Painting these tartes is like eating it again vicariously.
While researching Luxembourg garden chairs (I added new chair watercolors in my shop) I peeked into the newish Angelina cafe near the museum.
I shared the excessive sablé/shortbread crust with Saint Sulpice pigeons while sitting on a bench. The pigeons were happy as clams and would never neglect pie crust like some people😳
On Sunday the marzipan pink pigs acted as a swift deterrent from entering Gerard Mulot and indulging👏👏🤸🏾♀️ Maybe I need to carry a pig 🐖 with me at all times as a gentle reminder?
Its not easy in this town. You’re accosted with constant temptation 😳 like the fraise de bois ice cream sundae from Berthillon seen on instagram.
News Alert! I have a new blog email service. In future 🇫🇷Paris posts will be arriving faster into your inbox🤸🏾♀️Like 30 minutes instead of 6-12 hrs! *If you havent confirmed your blog subscription, please go over to Parisbreakfast and re-sign up. If you received this email you are OK!
Big Merci to Bonnie for sending this lovely pic of her recent letter purchases in my etsy shop 👏👏👏Please send me pictures of your letters/watercolors
OMG - yes, a citron tart map is exactly what I need for our next trip. You have me really craving some lemon yummies.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! We’ve been following that delight at home cooking for a while- nice to know it’s a thing in Paris!
DeleteI simply love the citron Tarte meringuée. I simply adore Paris pigeons, Angelina pastry shop, and the lively pink pigs made of marzipan. I wish will be there having a sundae at Bertillon. Have a great weekend Carol and thanks for sharing the beauty of Paris and the yummy places to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI imagine it is so easy to get side tracked in Paris! One has a destination and before you know it there is no escaping the lure of tarts and sundaes. I 👏 for a citron map.
ReplyDeleteYes please, citron pastries get my vote! Yummy Yum!
ReplyDeleteOh GA You have no idea!
ReplyDeleteLand mines everywhere!
Constant battle with the inner voice that says,” sure reward yourself” and the other says “Absolutely not!
You had a cookie yesterday, remember!”
I would have triangled it too.
ReplyDeleteTarte citron is France’s 4th favorite dessert!
ReplyDeleteWho knew?
After chocolate mousse, le fondant au chocolat et le tiramisu.
Hmmm…tiramisu? That’s Italian non?
Somehow you just happened to end up inside? Yup. I'll buy that. Somehow.
ReplyDelete(Looks divine!)
I share your passion for tarte citron, Carol. How can they be the 4th favorite dessert of les Francais?! That is beyond comprehension…but, it does leave more tartes citron for you and me…win/win! I’m looking forward to your map for all the best locations for the best tartes citron in Paris. 🍋❤️
ReplyDeleteTo answer a question you asked: I don't have any French expressions on my refrigerator because in my new home the door is hard to see. But: you are reminding me, since I'm in a new phase of studying French, I will hang some expressions up around the house. Bathroom mirror, in front of me at my work table., kitchen counters.
ReplyDeleteLots of surgar in this post! Still something I don't eat, still something I admire, oooh, so pretty, and love your paintings of them.
I have never met, nor heard of, a tarte citron connoisseur with your expertise…at your level…you are a singular person, Carol. Green with envy
ReplyDeletekeep on sampling every tarte citron in the city so I’ll know which to buy when back there in November.
ReplyDeleteYummmmm. I eat 3 at a time in a really good binge
