November Perfume letter, Perfume map

While I've been immersed in the news
Bear has been immersed in Paris perfumes. A big thank you to Lois Bender of gardenSpirits NY for sending me a shot of the very Parisian print she saw last week.

Why not make the hats into perfume bottles? And add a dog? Looking at my sketch now should I have added 5 dogs?
Time for perfume immersion. One of Printemps Xmas windows is all-perfume bottles plus bubbling vats.
Galeries Lafayette has an entire floor of perfume stands.
Plus upstairs their balcony is all haute couture brands in such a glorious setting. Test/try all you like.

Most Paris perfume houses bring out new scents for holiday gift-giving. This purple poofy bottle is from Annick Goutal.

Which one of these describes you? Hmm...
Perfume and Paris are inextricably linked are they not? So romantic...rose petals.
And ribbon and perfume are entwined. As you waltz through the stores you're offered scented ribbons from Chanel and YSL.
Do you think Guerlain designed their bottles to match Printemps cupolas?
Perfume and Paris are synonomous to me. Do you remember the name of your 1st Paris perfume?

    I love your painting!♥he perfume bottles are outstanding..so feminine this one.
    And the map..funny I have a pale green Avon Eiffel Tower:)no top though.
    Pretty pretty map.I love scents..I know some are sensitive to them..but I do love them as I am not.
    A scent is a memory to me.

    I love your painting with the little doggies you added! Yes, I remember my first Paris perfume... bought it when I was 13! I still have it today, it is a little sweet for my current perfume likings, but I like to wear it every once in a while to remind myself of my first visit! Anyway, enjoyed all of the pictures of the perfume bottles too!

    Dear Carol, it was a Joy (!) to see this post. I have been a great fan of perfumes, scents and packaging, for many decades Even the tiny sample bottles are beauties, and I have quite a few.

    I love your drawings and paintings evoking the fanciful wonder of perfume land, and the previews of Christmas in Paris. All of this really helped me to set aside other recent matters for a few precious moments. Merci! xo

    Lovely post and such a nice idea making a Perfume Paris map :-) I have to make a visit to Galeries Lafayette to see that giant Christmas tree in paper and also browse through the nouveautés when it comes to perfume...

    My first Paris perfume was Arpège, by Lanvin, sampled from my mother's bottle. She also introduced me to Chanel No. 5. Each of those fragrances bring her back, although she has been gone to Whatever Comes Next since 1985.

    When did the store I once knew as Au Printemps become Printemps?

    Beautiful post. I love the sketch letter. My first was arpege. Right now I want to be shopping at Printemps, Galleries Lafayette. Bonne Marche, and BhV. I was in Paris early December last year. Now I would love to show my whole family Paris during the holidays. I will dream. Have a good weekend.

    I adore your perfume sketch letters, Carol! You've certainly evoked such a French fragrance on screen. Isn't it funny how we can remember our first perfume? Mine was Demi Jour by Houbigant (doesn't exist) which was pretty heady but I felt so special. 25 years ago, my French husband-to-be bought me a bottle for Christmas and that was it! I was smitten.

    I used to try many different perfumes - I think my first Paris one was Nina Ricci's L'air du Temps-oooh, takes me back to my college days!

    Love the way you depict the light on perfume bottles! And the fluffy doggie standing up is so cute!

    I am reading the book, Les Parisiennes, by Anne Sebba. It is about women, Paris, the Occupation, war and aftermath. There are paragraphs about the fashion houses and perfumes in the recovery. Not always a pretty business. But one sentence stuck with me and I will paraphrase, one soldier said "Paris smells so good."

    Childhood memories flood back of my mother and her special bottle of Lavin Arpage, she wore on special occasions. Since I lost her in my early 20s I have always kept an exact bottle in my bathroom cabinet. I too wear it on special occasions. For me it was to YSL I headed in my 20s with Rive Gauche in my handbag, add Paris for ssomething wonderful. Now I am a Chanel and Dior lady. I wear perfume every day, regardless. It's part of me.
