La Nuit aux Invalides 2020 à Paris

Last night I was supposed to see the annual summer light show at l'Invalides with M&M. I was the one who saw the poster in the metro. I was the one who said, "Let's go!" We got our tickets a week ago. Then last night rolled around. It was all dark clouds and drizzle. On the way over to M&M's in my head I was singing, "DON'T WANNA, don't wanna, don't wanna..." Truth is I hate going out at night. I'm an "extreme lark" the Guardian says.I wake up all bouncy at 3:30 AM, but keel into bed at 8-9 PM comatose. Any Extreme Larks out there? Let's talk at 3:30 AM

Yesterday I even ate a preparatory coffee ice cream cone to keep me up late. It works. No kidding. At M&M's...she was fence-sitting too. Will it rain or won't it? Should we or shouldn't we? Look! its clearing up over there! M&M: "I hate to waste the money."
Me: "I'll pay another 25€ Not to go!"
Meredith: “If I call an Ubber? I'll pay!"
We were going to take Bus 69
I said,"I will escort you to your car."
Last words from Meredith, "Go take pictures along the Seine"
I did.

First stop Pylone's window across the street.

Flowers are sleeping in Patrick Allen's window.

More Summer hats.

Late night eaters at Les Fous De l'Iles.

Ice cream eaters at Pom'Cannelle.

Crossing Pont Marie.

Meredith Mullins sent me a picture.
“Wish you were here.”
I was pretty OK at my own Nuit de Lumiere show.
Please share this post with a friend.
Please Stay well PBers ❤️🐻

  3. Yum...coffee ice cream! When I was a kid my fav thing was coffee frappes (is that just a New England thing?). Hope the caffeine has worn off and you’re dozing

  5. Love those store windows at night and the Pont Marie picture is glorious. The bank of clouds look so thick but not menacing.

    2. If I'd paid more attention, I would have recognized that but I was so entrance by the light and clouds didn't really pay attention to the bridge details.

  6. I can so relate. We rarely go out at night anymore. But of course Paris might make the difference!
Love the idea of a coffee icecream! Can't keep it in our freezer! Too tempting! Love, love, love your nighttime photos. Starting out with Pylone!! I always find something in that fun store. Shared a tablescape on IG yesterday and someone asked me about the little silver fish on my dish. Pylone! A sardine can of little fish skeltons to use as sardine forks. Love the whimsy and creative touch of this shop. As I said, I always find something fun to bring back to the states.
    Have a great weekend!

    1. Their 1st shop was a hole in the wall in Galerie Vivienne.
Dory Greenspan had a plastic ball necklace I drooled over from there and I went and bought one...lord knows who's wesring it now?

  7. The photos are magnificent. But like you, I rather like cozying in at night. And these days I'm not big on any kind of crowds. The store windows are great. Love the hats and turbans!

This is one of your BEST Paris Breakfasts! Thank you. Your photos of the three shop windows along the Seine could inspire a painting or two! If I weren't still caught up with your rooftop pigeons I'd dive right in.

    1. I had to go back a second time to get the photo.
The woman said 'Café?' before I even opened my mouth. Then she really piled it on. It kept me up for TWO nights!

  11. Isn't it funny how sometimes you get excited about doing something & then when the time comes...you would much rather stay home. A
" what was I thinking moment"! But you persevere & discover you were glad you did.
    Happy Weekend!

Paris is a spectacular light show.

  13. Great photos! Even having ice cream can't always psyche you up for a night out if you're not in the mood. Thanks for sharing your great photos of Paris by night, the shop windows are brilliant!

  14. Me, early bird...but learning to "sleep late" until 5. I know re. wanting to do something at night, but backing out...I enjoyed YOUR show, maybe all the more special because you freed yourself from the other.
Have you converted to the new format? I'm upset by its complexity. I don't seem to be able to write posts on my ipad even with the old format.
