Paris in Bloom

Is winter still hanging round in your doorstep? Then you need THIS BOOK.

IF Spring is beginning to show up you still need THIS BOOK.

If you have a mother, you need this book. Georgianna Lane's PARIS IN BLOOM is simply divine.

It inspired me to look for Paris pinks. Le Bonbon au Palais confiserie has perfect pink marshmallow.

They have deep pink framboise chocolate fish! This is a first.

Anne Maisoneuve is ready for Spring with peony Ts.

I thought of buying pretty pink ranunculus to paint inspired by Georgianna's book.

Every picture is a painting, evocative, inspiring, dreamy. I was shooting in Paul Langevin parc under a swath of cherry trees. Bloosoms were falling.

Paris in Bloom has useful information like Georgianna's favored flower boutiques. Quite a few were in last May's flower shop map.

She likes Au Nome de La Rose.

There's a DIY tour of Georgianna's favorite locations for flowering trees and plants in central Paris.

We were lucky to get her to come take a look at our tiny secret garden.

Who knew there were Camellias in my own back yard till Georgianna identified them?

Paris parks map, Paris In Bloom, Jardins, Jardin

Still obsessed with Georgianna Lane's divine book, PARIS IN BLOOM. This time her selection of Paris parks made the June map. 

I took a page out of her book so to speak for the Tuileries gardens.

These 19th century Gibson girls almost made it onto the June map but in the end kids with red balloons made the cut. Maybe next time Gibson girls.

Of course iconic green Parisien garden chairs had to be there.

Hanging around in parks I discovered I'm a Paris garden person, not a cafe ☕️ person. The calm. The greens. Playful kids sailing their boats ⛵️ to the hubbub of Parisian street life. This lush park, Square Jean XXIII, is behind Notre Dame and one of Georgianna's favorites.

Yesterday I went back to the Tuileries JARDINS JARDIN searching for June map envelope stuffers and discovered wild garden houses.

Don't you love this guy watering his garden house? I'm going to insist my landlord let me have this green retreat in our tiny patch out back.

Or perhaps this lavender haven

So French these modern garden chairs non?

What we all need now - cascading fountains in our back yards. Very Monsieur Hulot's holiday is it not?

A medieval jardin model.

The prize winner of garden retreats, this match stick affair. Not really my cup of tea but you might love it. Do tell.

Who needs to go to Provence? Grow your own lavender why not?

Truffaut, the big French garden suppliers had this amusing chaise.

Who doesn't love ❤️ Ligne Roset's bunny chairs? You'll be seeing this bunny, while I go off to draw castles in Carcassonne today. The June map 🗺️ will go out next week.

Floral Boutiques map, Nina's Paris

Thanks to discovering PARIS IN BLOOM, this Spring has been the Springiest ever...chasing after wisteria, lilac and blooming cherry trees.

When we met up I gave her last year's May floral boutique map. Cross-referencing her list of favorite shops we were on the same wave length.

When I suggested collaborating on a map she was delighted. I've been tearing around

Tracking down her favorites. Here's outside Flower.fr on 14, rue des Saint Peres 75007

Inside utterly serenity.

Paris' floral boutiques don't seem to mind browsers and you can take pictures, unlike Paris' patisseries, though I'd ask first.

I was at Au Nom de la Rose today buying a bag of rose petals. WikiHow says you can iron them between 2 pieces of absorbant paper at a low temperature - a speedy way to dehydrate them. I thought they'd make nice envelope stuffers for the floral map. Except it didn't work! Humph

Clever Nom de la Rose displays most of their flowers on the street. Luscious, silky roses sitting in old tin cans on rusted garden chairs. As tempting as strawberry tarts.

Inside they were trimming rose stems. There are 17 shops all over Paris, many closet-sized.

Have you been to Nina's Paris at 29, rue Danielle Casanova, 75001 near Place Vendome? One of the nicest tea salons in Paris. Georgianna had her book party here. Some kind PBers took me for afternoon tea.

Simple and elegant.

Nina's teas are a collaboration with the King's vegetable garden (le potager de roi) at Versailles. They have exclusive rights to use the Marie Antoinette roses for their signature teas and for the apples too.

Their chocolate bars and soaps! Too pretty.

Its a darling intimate space. I much prefer it to the grand overly-fussy fancy hotel teas.

How do they get those fresh rose petals to stay on the wall?

When you're flower-focused you see flowers everywhere. 

Nina's gave me their adorable tea tin flyer for this month's envelopes. Plus perfume card and ribbon. No dried rose petals though.
