Tarte aux Pommes 🍎 à la Normande surgelés Picard

Painting a Normande apple 🍎 tarte is not a piece of cake 🍰

I should know. I’ve been MIA this past week eating apple tartes

And sick in bed 🛌 from a cold 😢 I obviously stayed too long at the fair (SIAL) last week.

I had the bright idea if I baked a Picard Tarte Normande…the apple aromas would help inspire the October 🍁 letter.
These pre-baked things never come out looking the glorious way they look on the package. Sprinkling cinnamon on top, didn’t help the aesthetics much🤷‍♀️
It was the Fête de Ventre in Rouen that got me in an apple 🍎 frame of mind.
Any chance to draw ✍️ the French
In Normande costume must be encouraged 👍
I
did not manage to get the petit chien 🐕 in the picture.
There are
over 400 varieties of apples in France.
Who knew Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved cat Choupette was named after an apple 🍎?
Here’s a bit of contrarian information. There are over 750 varieties of apples 🍎 in Normandy alone,
But this includes cider apples. These are not table fruits. Small, dry, sugary, acidic and they are full of tanins.
Apples are the No.1 fruit eaten in France 🇫🇷 ahead of oranges 🍊 and bananas 🍌 More vital information.
Apples 🍎 like so many foods we take for granted, originated in Central Asia, near Tajikistan and north western China.
Tonight is the opening of the Salon du Chocolat 🍫 I do not intend to overdo things. Famous last words…wish me luck🤞
Full chocolate 🍫 report tomorrow 🙏

Love apple desserts this time of year when there are so many different varieties of apples available at the farmers markets. I especially love a good apple tart. Your painting is beautiful and makes me a bit hungry for apples. Feel better and enjoy the Salon du Chocolat. I will look forward to your report. -Suzanne P.

Ooohh…love your Tarte aux Pommes letter, Carol. Your watercolor apples and tarte are beautiful! There is so much to love about Normandy; cidre, crêpes, and apples head the list!

Hope you feel better soon so you can enjoy that Salon du Chocolat! 😋

Eat some kale or arugula daily. Haven’t had a cold 14 years. No flu. Nothing. I add it to soup. Under my eggs in my scrambled eggs. With my pasta and cheese. Daily. On sandwiches. My bones are normal which doesn’t happen for a 83 year old. Feel better. Get bone broth and sip on that and threw hand fills of arugula in it. Lynne

  10. An apple a day - followed by chocolate. Hope you're completely well and enjoy the Salon du Chocolate, - I so look forward to your reports on it every year. Love your letter even though the only way I like apples is raw. I would just eat the crust on a tart tatin.
