Saturday I was all set to go to the Fete de Brie de Meaux…
Then I saw La fete de Ventre was talking place in Rouen!
The next train leaves in 26 minutes I heard and she rushed me to the ticket 🎫 desk. Then she rushed me to the track. It was leaving in 6 minutes not 26!
The conductor helped me on and said, “sit anywhere but NOT in this car” (1st class - the fine can be 32€. Been there, done that).
The train to Rouen is direct, no stops & just 2 hours. It was drizzling in Paris and drizzling in Rouen but so what.
Why didn’t I get any mushrooms 🍄
I did get a barquette of the best shrimp 🍤 I’ve ever tasted (6€) and a barquette of bulot (welks 5€)🐚
Do you love ❤️ Normandy?

ReplyDeleteThe leaf 🍁 colors change in Normandy. In Paris they do not.
DeleteI love Rouen! Thank you for the lovely pictures; I have walked underneath that clock several times and always enjoy the little shops and have had the most yummy tarts from a vendor's cart there.
ReplyDeleteOoops I missed the tarts

ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos Carol. Rouen looks wonderful and I love food festivals. I would have had a hard time resisting the mushrooms and soups and fresh pressed apple cider. Thank you for taking us on your trip to Normandy in autumn. -Suzanne P.
ReplyDeleteDelighted to take you along Suzanne P.
DeleteI did get some sparkling apple juice. Having to carry heavy bottles is not fun 🤷♀️ Lots of irresistible goodies. If someone else had been along I would have bought more for sure….a partner in crime 😄
My grandparents had a small chateau in Normandy and were friends with Harry & Caresse Crosby who also had a place called The Mill in Normandy. I love Rouen and the wonderful coastline. One of my favorite little towns to visit is Varengeville sur Mer. Thank you for inspiring this memory for me.
ReplyDeleteI am crazy for Trouville-sur-mer and all those coastal towns ❤️
DeleteThank you
DeleteI had no clue about Harry and Caresse Crosby.
At one point they lived down the street on quai d’Orleans!

Did I see some baking potatoes??? I hear they are hard to come by in Paris. I love the Normandy tin.🗼❤️
ReplyDeleteJust me couldn’t find them but now I have at Epicerie Tour d’Argent 🥔
DeleteRight up my alley. The food looks so fresh and actually has flavor. Lynne
ReplyDeleteI love Rouen, and appreciate this wonderful post and photos!!
ReplyDeleteOh my, a tummy fête…the best kind of fête…yummys for your tummy! Love all your photos! So many terrific food products. You always know what is going on, C! Thanks for taking us along. ❤️
ReplyDeleteI would love to go there to see the three spire cathedral. I believe Monet painted it and we saw it last week at Musee D’Orsay. Although this food fete would probably be more fun!!
ReplyDeleteYou can do both. I stayed on the food route 👍🍎
DeleteCarol, I love your mouth-watering food festival photos! How do you learn of the various festivals that are taking place? I'd like to attend, too!
ReplyDeleteI did a generalsearch for food fetes on Google. Never heard of this one before. It was the 25th fete!
ReplyDeleteI’ve never been to Rouen but would if I could. This all looks very tasty, I would have got the apple pudding cake and fresh raspberries too. Also some cider! They cheese looked good too……Thanks for the trip.
