On Thursday I arrived an HOUR early, thinking I was late.

A pet monkey and dog are arguing amidst delicious chaos. Still lives are trending this Fall since the Louvre’s major exhibit, Les Choses opened. Painted by Flemish painter Jan van Kessel, a painter active in Antwerp in the mid 17th century, born 1629. It did not indicate whether it was the younger or the elder? He did paint a lot of bugs also.

Yesterday I went to a preview of the preview for Fine Arts Paris held in the Carrousel de Louvre and on view through Sunday, the 13th.

Yesterday I went to the opening of the new exhibit, 

Irving Penn, EclairWeek2017

Tuesday morning was the preview 

The Irving Penn retrospective at the Grand Palais.

My photography professor friend, Sardi Klein 

Always told me to study Penn's still life, "After dinner games" (top picture) for inventive arrangement & depth of field.

I vowed to do still life thumbnail studies 

Every day after seeing the original.

Post-exhibit I ran over to Fauchon for still life painting and eating ideas.

I went for plain fraise/strawberry. Anything RED wins my vote. Pretty to paint.

Fauchon's pastry graphics are the best in Paris.

London Studio...

I've been painting teapots today, though not this one, not yet. This teapot was provided when I stayed at the Club in London = love at first sight.
It's convenient to have a sink right by your drawing table (really a pull-out writing table in the chest of drawers)... Wherever I go

Except when staying at French Girls', where I mind my Ps and Qs. There was one catastrophe - the result of a pair of pink underpants, seen here drying on the window knob. They have 'SUPER MODEL' printed on the seat in big silver letters, so they're favorites and previously considered lucky underwear. I hand-washed them as usual. FG has a 6-string clothesline over the tub on which I'd seen sheets, towels, and practiquement Berber rugs hanging. Naturalment I didn't think twice when I tossed them up over the lines. Naturalment the whole thing came crashing down! I tried to untwist and replace it, but one string was irrevocably broken. The pants went onto the radiator to dry. When FG came home I was sitting as usual at the computer quietly tapping away. First words I hear,
"What happened in the bathroom?"
Not so lucky after all.
Bear and Squeak, the cat, hold a truce session in my studio-bedsit.
I would have loved to paint this mess on top of the desk.

Petersham Nurseries

Are you off barbecuing your breakfast somewhere nice today? Or are you stuck at home catching up on painting homework or whatever. I thought I'd take you off on a nice outing to Petersham Nurseries. Believe me you could do far worse and there's no traffic to fight etc.

They have huge sheds filled to the limit with treasures you will instantly want to own.

Like these glorious over size pots. Does one HAVE to have a garden to own these? Is it obligatory?A tree trunk table. I so need this!!! Who knew?Every place your eye lands there are divine little still life setups.Someone here is a painter, that's for sure...

It's absolutement true!
Yet I feel no compulsion

To go and eat

With the sign in the street.

An addictive habit

My feet demand:
