Fete de Ventre, Rouen

Saturday I was all set to go to the Fete de Brie de Meaux

Then I saw La fete de Ventre was talking place in Rouen!

A much bigger foodie fest - all Normandie specialties. OUI!
(This is Gare de Rouen. I always take a pic of the train station so I can find my way back).
I ran πŸƒ‍♀️ to Gare Saint Lazare & into the Nomade ticket office.
The next train leaves in 26 minutes I heard and she rushed me to the ticket 🎫 desk. Then she rushed me to the track. It was leaving in 6 minutes not 26!
The conductor helped me on and said, “sit anywhere but NOT in this car” (1st class - the fine can be 32€. Been there, done that).
The train to Rouen is direct, no stops & just 2 hours. It was drizzling in Paris and drizzling in Rouen but so what.
More than 150 producteurs
Producteurs are encouraged to dress in traditional Normande dress.
Why didn’t I get any mushrooms πŸ„
Why didn’t I get any mushroom soup ?
Or soup de cresson (watercress)?
I did get a barquette of the best shrimp 🍀 I’ve ever tasted (6€) and a barquette of bulot (welks 5€)🐚
So many tastes of delicious cider.
Of course there was a cow.
The town of Rouen is beautiful
The Grand Horloge/big clock was down a side street
But I stuck with browsing the food stalls.
Or browsing the big fluffy dogs 🐢 of Normandy
I bought some ripe raspberries
And some apple ‘pudding’ cake from the 11th century called Taillis. Have you heard of this? Delish

Fall 🍁 is a good time to come to France πŸ‡«πŸ‡· for harvest festivals πŸ‘
Do you love ❤️ Normandy?

The leaf 🍁 colors change in Normandy. In Paris they do not.

I love Rouen! Thank you for the lovely pictures; I have walked underneath that clock several times and always enjoy the little shops and have had the most yummy tarts from a vendor's cart there.

What beautiful photos Carol. Rouen looks wonderful and I love food festivals. I would have had a hard time resisting the mushrooms and soups and fresh pressed apple cider. Thank you for taking us on your trip to Normandy in autumn. -Suzanne P.

Delighted to take you along Suzanne P.
I did get some sparkling apple juice. Having to carry heavy bottles is not fun 🀷‍♀️ Lots of irresistible goodies. If someone else had been along I would have bought more for sure….a partner in crime πŸ˜„

My grandparents had a small chateau in Normandy and were friends with Harry & Caresse Crosby who also had a place called The Mill in Normandy. I love Rouen and the wonderful coastline. One of my favorite little towns to visit is Varengeville sur Mer. Thank you for inspiring this memory for me.

      Thank you
I had no clue about Harry and Caresse Crosby.
At one point they lived down the street on quai d’Orleans!

I would love to go there to see the three spire cathedral. I believe Monet painted it and we saw it last week at Musee D’Orsay. Although this food fete would probably be more fun!!
