French Bows

The French own the bow
They even invented ribbon!
Is wearing a bow at your back the same as having the wind at your back?
When I shot the pink trench above, the owner of Anne Elisabeth came out to check on me...was I going to steal her 'bow'?
Wearing bows at the neck goes way back and why not at the neck of your perfume like Annik Goutal does here?
YSL puts bows going down the front of this cocoon.
Don't miss the YSL show if you're in Paris!

Bows on your socks?  Sure why not?
The musee des Arts decoratif design shop puts a bow on your rain boot.
Lanvin ties a ruban in your hair
Marc Jacobs too
Painted on the walls, bien sur at Musee Carnavalet.Sonia is not just Queen of sweaters and queen of stripes, she is also queen of bows
Eat what's inside the bow, not the bow please.
~
“May the wind bow always be on your back and the sun upon your face and may the winds of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.”
THANK YOU FOR YR KIND MESSAGES YESTERDAY!
Bonne Journee PB readers!

I can't tell you how much I love your blog: it's something about the art, the fashion, the whimsy, your sense of humour and, of course, your dedication to all things French.

    Thank you!

  4. Lovely bows, but all I want are those Marc Jabobs sunglasses!

  5. What I want to know is how they always make such perfect bows! I've learned to make two rabbit ears and then loop them over one another for a pretty decent bow, but it's hard to make them look so good! I love 'em.

  6. I grew up with a mother who liked strict Coco-like tailoring but did soften things with a bow...so I was lucky. BTW, GG wears the gold ribbon from one of my AGoutal bottles on her organic cotton collar - green with gold, very nice. Goes with her golden-red head fur. I can't tell you how chic she is...her human cannot begin to keep up.

    ciao, bella

  7. And it does have to end with a ribbon on our morning sweets...thanks! I love the bows on the rain boots. I could use a pair - it's raining in PA. In NY too, I suspect ...

  8. Yes it is raining in NYC..
Why of why didn't I buy those bow rain boots?
    I keep asking myself that...sign

  11. WENDY! you must be part French- you wear a lotta bows Hun.

I buy bows and never wear them -Sonia's black satin headband big bow-I bought TWO for insurance/investment.
I have yet to wear one. I don't think I'm the 'Alice' type except when it comes to tea cakes etc.

Thank you RUBIS for the info-I shall check if London's V&A carries Vivienne's rainboots. I would love to bet they don't but I'm afraid of losing...ahem

Dear BRUSH WITH COLOR-I'm certain those French bows are sewn to reach that height of perfection. Not tied as any poor schlep among us might do...

That GG is one pampered pet!

  15. Now I must go find a big ribbon to tie in my hair (and then likely take it out because I will look ridiculous :-))

  23. You might know that I am a huge fan of Merisi, as I know you are also.

Might I say that your site has got such a great atmosphere.

It's been a while since I have been able to board a plane at JFK to cross the Atlantic.

Your posts are encouraging me to try just a little bit harder (thinking of an old Janis Joplin tune) to figure out how to visit glorious Paris.

    Thank you for the inspiration.

  24. Hi Carol,
We, like you, love all things French.
We run a small French inspired boutique in the suburbs of Chicago and adore your blog.
The legwarmers with the bow that you recently photographed for your blog are to die for.
Are you able to give us any information on where you saw those or who makes them? We would really appreciate it!

    Merci beaucoup!
    Jessie

  25. The best I can guess is the bow-sock was seen on the corner of rue de Rennes and...maybe rue St. Sulpice
Another shot grabbed on the run by the bow stalker.

Boy! Did she get sick of me shooting her every move and outfit.
