Inside Guerlain

Visiting Guerlain is quite charmante.Bring on the Champagne!
You can wander and sniff Les touchesabundant at good old Guerlain.
More purfs reside then in any most other domains
This joint does contain,
Some 700 purfumes
At almighty Guerlain Go try to make up a poem about Guerlain
I'd rather wear a ball and chain.
I'd rather wear some L'heure Bleu
Then keep up with this inane refrain
This idiotic so-called poem Is far too mundane
To encompass the merveilleux Guerlain
I'll cease and desist
And leave you free rein
To wonder les etages at Guerlain
Malheureusement
An awful lot of words
Rhyme with Guerlain...
Go and spritz to your hearts content...
68 avenue des Champs-Elysées
BONJOUR GUERLAIN!

  2. My first long-term girlfriend was big on Shalimar. My wife can't stand it. Do you think there's a connection?

  4. Carol, I loved the colors on the watercolor! I wish I were that girl!
Guerlain is my favorite French brand, and I used Shalimar for a very long time. Now it was replaced by Prada. But still love the old one. I should try that Heur Bleu, just to see how it smells.
The weather here is terrible right now! Just noir tout le temp! Rain and rain! How's your NY?

  10. The lady who sniffs and the stairways are stand-outs, but the whole store is so elegant, hard to chose which view is prettier than the next!

Love your Paris Watercolor Still Life at the end of yesterday's post. I truly miss them.

  11. To Chris asking about Shalimar - yes to connection. (I know you asked Carol but I'm weighing in here having had similar experiences...not necessarily with Shalimar.)

My mother was a Shalimar & L'Heure Bleue carrier. Alas, I cannot wear them but do like on others.

The painting is very charming, Carol. GG wants me to send her to Paris. She needs to get a job first. Ahem.

    Bonjour.

  12. Does GG, la CHAT paint?
I have a job or two for her!

  13. Hey Carol, I just saw my picture on your blog.
    That is very cool.
    I'm very excited.
Going to be tough to wait until late June to give it to her.

    Thanks, Brian

  16. At one time I saw the cute macaron sneakers that you make and sell at Etsy….but I can’t find them. Am I still able to purchase a pair? Size 8 Thanks,
    Joan….mother of Poodle Diego. P.S.
I’m still looking for the perfect frame….
    I do love it !

  17. The Macaron shoes are on Zazzle Joan, not Etsy.

  18. Hi Carol, I missed meeting with you when you were in Paris but you were so busy. My gallery in Cannes is going to host a huge show with Madame Guerlain and her perfume bottle collection for the summer. They're going to make a catalog. I'll email the address and event when it happens... We are going to be in Oyster Bay for the summer. IT would be cool to meet up.

  19. Guerlain is right up my lane - I mean alley.

Guerlain is so expensively insane - yet necessary.

Guerlain is great when beauty does wane - to revive.

Guerlain is to some better than fame.

    Guerlain ... I don't have any.
    What a shame!!

    it’s a close second.

  22. Today I perused your post again-
And found the lovely topic Guerlain.
From scene to scene I couldn't refrain -
Each photo was so very germane!

Under your first picture, there was such an irresistible slogan for your portraits in front of Parisian shops: "Send yourself or your spouse to Paris." Who could could say no to that?

  24. Carol! -- What a gorgeous post. I didn't get to the Guerlain shop on the Champs Elysees, but I did get to their little Marais shop, and to Galeries Lafayette, both of which stock Guerlain frags which you'll only get in Paris. A treat! But clearly I need to get to the flagship store; a real experience, from what I can gather. (Another recommendable experience which you've surely long since known about: The Serge Lutens Studio in the Palais Royals Gardens. I was too timid to take photos of the drop-dead gorgeous purple-and-baroque interior, but maybe you could one of these days.... Just an idea!)
    All the best,
    XO

  26. So, you also made it! A fantastic shop as well seen from outside as inside! I hope for your bank account that you did not bring two bags full as the lady on the painting!

  27. SONYA-DO NOT B AFRAID!!
They let ME in the place?!

No PETER I did not buy BAGS of Guerlain. It was day #2 of my trip and I wanted there to be a day #3-17.

"ARTIST", I don't recall NOT meeting you in Paris or evenyour name? Mystery person???

Thank you Jeanette & Je m'apelle for writing equally silly poems!
I love inspiring ppl. to new heights or lows, however you see it.

MICHAEL-I don't know what a Guerlain frag is but Ithink I can imagine. Serge Lutens is altogether too intimidating and very dark, which means I should give it another whirl next trip. Will do.

You've captured a rare boutique with the style only Leslie Caron could reappear with Gene Kelly.
