Bonjour August Roses

English Tea Rose I've been desperately seeking roses in my neighborhood, Astoria...

It's ain't like Paris here :(
True we have been having heavy rains. Here's a bud desperately trying to become a rose.Rose des PeintresSome other people have all the roses! WAIT! A budlette is trying desperately to open! You rock BUD! Yellow Rose of TexasI thought roses and macarons would make a good watercolor combo.
Little did I know the local roses would elude me...
Et voila! A local rose has decided to show it's pretty face. Merci! Reflection of a cherryA lack of roses meant the spoons and cherries get a SECOND ACT!

Et voila! PB reader Marie-Paule Maurin sent me these exquisite photos she took of Paris roses!
"12 km from the center of Paris (west) last Saturday - Roses and...Summer plums"
Merci beaucoup Marie-Paule! :)
BONJOUR AUGUST ROSES!

  1. But see--you don't need roses--you can just paint them and they're always at hand, Carol...beautiful, flawless ones!

  3. entre ces jolis macarons et ces roses je ne peux choisir, je prendrai donc un macaron à la rose.
    Christian

between these macarons and those roses it's impossible for me to choose so I'll pick up "an à la rose" macaron.

  10. I love your blog! It's a daily dose of beauty in my life. If you have a space for roses, only in Aug. you can take a bare stem from a bush and put it in soil under a clear mason jar. It should root and grow into a bush. You could gather roses from anywhere for your garden. I've also used this method for trees.

Do you REALLY thing the supermarche macs tastes as good. Are the others all about packaging?

  16. Macs are a texture game. I wasn't crazy about the Laduree macs. Texture okay but lacked an intensity of flavor.

  17. ah, intensity can be subtle. It's when the flavors come together correctly with everything spiking off each other.

  18. Bonjour Carol - just back from London, and I had a yummy surprise when I discovered a Laduree boutique at Harrod's...if I had known, it would have been my FIRST STOP.
