Mon Traiteur

Jeudi 24 Janvier Mon Traiteur

The great thing about living in Paris is you have your own deli, boulangerie, poissoniere, patisserie, fromager, la poste etc. You're loyal to the purveyors in your quartier and if you're lucky they will remember you and give you the occasional smile.

Mon traiteur has the yummiest stuff...miam miam

Almost always a line out the door.

No matter how many times I pass their vitrine/windows.

I have to stop and leche-vitrine/window shop/drool. I'm especially crazy for coquilles Saint Jacques. There's a special fete this weekend in Montmartre for scallops - la Saint-Vincent, le patron saint des vignerons/wine growers. 'Toute la Butte Montmartre sera en Fete! I really want to go to this.

Twice a week I get 100 grs(3 ounces) of beet salad and red cabbage salad from mon traiteur for about 2.50 euros.

To make 'Detox salade'.
Anything to counter balance the tres riche goodies I ate over New Years and the daily impulsive indulgences ahem.
While Django's doggie dreams of the traiteur's saucisson I dream of scallops
. Have you tasted this?
BONNE WEEK-END PBers!

Jour du Tarte au Citron

Premier jour dans Paris!

Researche du tarte au citron meringuee or not.

Why do I live in a city where tarte citron does not lurk on every street corner? :(

C'est pas juste/it's not fair..pas de toute

Enough with leche-vitrine-time to stop the browsing and plunge in!

Oh Cafe Pouchkine - how often I've dreamt of you. I have gazed at you so many times, you temptress.

Quelle surprise! You are a little bit like a trifle. Your creme citron dedans is surrounded by a thin layer of sponge. And on top a decorative meringue, a little toasted, pleasently gooey like a baked Alaska.

You are worth the dreams but I must leave room pour les autres tartes.

Dans le vitrine - une belle piece montee macaron citron.

Dans le rue - une tarte au citron car de poste bien sur.

Brasserie Tarte au Citron.

The proud owner doesn't mind a bit as he drinks his tarte au citron biere.
Even Parisien workers are decked out in tarte au citron!
The shop vitrines may be full of color including tarte citron.
Mais les Parisiens, comme habitude, are decked out in noir, gris, beige comme toujours.

I make it over to Gerard Mulot in the 6th. Raids-Patisserie says he has the best citron tarte au meringuee.
Le Figaro says Mulot has the best tarte fraise. I buy both and French Girl and I gobble them down almost forgeting to take a picture. Were they wonderful? BIEN SUR!
Bear and I are very happy to be in Paris.
We're en retard - un petit de Jet Lag..ahem
but we are racing out as soon as we post and take a wretched shower with that horrid French shower thingie that gets water everywhere :(
Vite! Vite! Vite!
BONJOUR PBers!!

Paris Xmas Vitrines (repost)

I took this shot in October of Galeries Lafayette rather early Xmas tree. The rest of the Paris Xmas window photos are THANKS to Anne Corrons of MesVitrines NYC.
Please click on the photos to see more detail and immerse yourself in Paris vitrines!
MERCI ANNE!!!
Galeries Lafayette First off Galeries Lafayette Rockette bears...Galeries Lafayette And their Mama Mia musical theme -
Do not ask me what this has to do with xmas puleeze. OTOH next door at Printemps the windows are truly magical.I have no idea what's going on here but j'adore!Clique and you tell me.
More mysteries...
MIAM!
Printemps does verte et rouge too
Let the soiree commence!
Chanel is sticking with a traditionally white snowy theme (of which there is plenty in Paris) and cutout doilies - tres femme blablabla
While Dior is thinking ahead and pushing post-Xmas cruise wear in their vitrines...hmmm
I'm all for Kenzo's Parisien biker yanking.
A slew of Parisien soiree-goers, perhaps over to...
Over to Repetto perhaps to get their dancing shoes?
So they can dance their way over to Jean-Paul Hevin for a portable Xmas tree of macarons non?!

Stalking Paris Boots

Stalking bottes/boots in Paris requires some work... Hanging out in le Grand Epicerie is an awfully good way... To catch up... On what boots THEY are wearing...
Another option is go to a hot exhibit like Basquiat at the musee d'Art Moderne de la ville de Paris...
Get on the very long line and just watch the latest Paris boots walze by...
Sometimes the boots get fed up with standing on line and sit down to wait. I got fed up waiting after an hour, but I saw a lot of fashion...
A bit of leche-vitrine/window shopping is required for trend following...
The riding style boots, L'Aigle are very hot now in Paris...
Carrying around their signature bag is de rigeur...
'Uggish' boots have made a comeback - these in Sonia's vitrine...
Added multi-straps update them...
One could get away with wearing one's old Uggs I suppose...
But when Galerie Lafayettes has a special promotion of Uggs + Jimmy Choo...
Offering jazzed up versions...
Who can resist?
A careful inspection is essential...
The prix - 740 euros, could help one curb ones impulsivity I suppose...hmmm
One does wonder how French Girls...
Eat all these divine desserts and yet fit into the skin-tight boots seen dans la rue...

True some Frenchies are quite busy working off those tartes...
I alone, was not wearing boots in Paris, but your friendly stalker-in-the-street must think of comfort 1st and be able to stalk another day.
BONJOUR PARIS BOOTS!
