April in Paris 🌸 Letter

Back on April 8 I said, I was trying hard to get your April Paris letters done ✏️ and to la poste 📮

Early work-in-progress sketches… 🤸🏾‍♀️

But Bear and I changed out minds 🤔 We went through several renditions.
After seeing The Department Store exhibit at MAD, I thought it would be fun to draw ✏️ 1860 Art Nouveau Paris stores.
Ha! 🙄 For 2 weeks I struggled & sweated…detailed architecture not really my cup of tea ☕️
Last Friday I had a sudden brain 🧠 storm. Why not do a pistachio-focused Paris letter?💡
I headed off to La Pistacherie at Pont d’Alma. What a divine place.
Close inspection of their (candy) trésors was essential.
I flirted seriously with their éclat de pistache-covered ice cream cone🍦but refrained somehow.
More pistache research 🔬 required at Ladurée on boulevard Champs-Elysées.
For further close study of pistache-flavored macarons. More tasting required bien sur…
Anyhoo after gobbling up my pistachio haul Friday night, it occurred to me…
I should return to square one - the original cherry blossom 🌸 idea 😊 The artistic 🎨 life is rarely a straight line.
My models
At last off 🏃‍♀️ to la Poste 📮 with your Paris letter!
Spring wedding on the Paris Metro.
             💐 Bon Weekend PBers 💐

I would NOT have been able to walk away from that pistachio covered ice cream cone! You are not only talented but also very disciplined 😉

It is not a question of discipline.
Paris is a sea 🌊 of constant temptation. You have to become less impulsive living here. Being ADHD does not help. Or being a sugar-aholic before I moved here.

  2. Your pistachio haul looks tasty, even if you didn’t get the ice cream which looks very nice. Love the letter you started and decided on. Creative decision making can be hard!

I don’t know how you come up with fresh ideas month after month! Happy to see another letter in your ‘Eiffel Tower Collection’, it’s gorgeous! I have to have it!

You introduced us to La Pistacherie a while back. It’s a fabulous place to sit, with an ice cream cone, and watch the world go by. I love the French obsession with pistachio.

Thank you for the link to ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’. IZ has a beautiful voice.

  5. But you incorporated a bit of pistachio in that bench. Well, maybe not quite pistachio, but a bit. And it's lovely in every way.

Hello Carol, The movie “Fifty First Dates” used the Israel Kamakawiwo’ole rendition of “Over the Rainbow “ as one of its’ soundtracks. I remember thinking how beautiful his performance of this song truly was while watching the movie. It was the first time I heard this musical version of this song. His particular way of performing the song was so fitting for the theme and setting of the movie.

Pistachio is lovely and tasty. I always buy pistachio yogurt from Carrefour supermarché every time I go to Paris. Love it. Thanks for a wonderful haul of pictures. Love, Maribel

I have never seen such a delicious looking ice cream cone..next time you are there please do not resist! We have pistachios in bulk in shells and opened where I shop in California. Grown in the Central Valley these days, pistachios are curious with red seeds at the tips of the branches in clusters. They are always tempting; these bins are the end of control with all kinds of nut flavors and variations. Love the specialty shops in Paris which never disappoint.

      OK I will 🍦
I think they are drups…not nuts
You’re lucky to have them growing so close by. They must be more tasty than shipped pistache from Iran & Italy.

Hi Carol, Loved the pistachio themed post and I especially appreciated the photo of the bride and groom, both sporting identical trainers on the metro.

Carol, This month's letter is beautiful as always. Is there anyway to order it without the fold? Or as an original watercolor? Looking for a 25th wedding anniversary present. You have already done several commissioned pieces for my husband over the years. Merci
