Sunday in Paris

Sunday morning in Paris is perfect to go foraging for desserts.

You must start early. M and I left by 9:30 am joining joggers and dog walkers. While Paris sleeps you'll catch the best desserts that got away all week, when you walzed in the late afternoon to find zero.

A Paris restaurant 'guard' cat watches us go forage.

Gerard Mulot is always buzzing with activity on Sunday from dessert foragers.

I'm looking for desserts to shoot and later paint.

Never easy at Mulot - too many to choose from. Ah ha! This chocolate dome will do the trick.

I send off Misha with the booty while I head on for more treasures. She has instructions to carry the desserts doucement.

Pastry vitrines are full of springy colors and flowers to honor new macaron flavors.

Why do I always feel like this 5-year old full of excitement and anticipation in any Paris patisserie?

I head off to Pierre Herme on rue Bonaparte. The windows are impossible to shoot, full of reflections. Photographing inside is verboten. I have a plane to catch Monday so.

Last pit stop for the elusive sesame eclair at patisserie Sadaharu Aoki. It's Misha's birthday and she must have a sesame eclair bien sur.

Back at the apartment I shoot like mad in the beautiful overcast morning light. Pierre Herme's Cherry Pistachio tarte looks an awful lot like M.'s bumpy Japanese tetsubin teapot.

The PH cerise/cherry comes in handy as a prop.
Pistache cupcake + cerise. The other two patiently wait their turn. I've never been a eater of cupcakes, but suddenly I'm converted. I wolf down the citron.
Later I meet up with Amy of Sweet Freak at Carette's newest tea salon in the Marais at 25, Place des Voges...
I can't even eat even one bite of Amy's clafoutis.
I'm desserted out. Still, can you think of a better way to spend a Sunday in Paris?
I'm back in New York, unpacking, paying bills, and heading out to the pool to work off that citron cupcake!
BONJOUR DIMANCHE!

Framboise

I was wrong when I said the tendance was PINK in Paris. non! It's framboise.
Printemps has a pop-up store to prove it. Nothing but framboise. Rien de toute. These shoes are missing red berries. Big framboise bear. Framboise dog.

Un Jour à Paris

What I did yesterday - another gorgeous day in Paris!
I'm off to see an expo of watercolors by sketchbook artist par excellance, Fabrice Moireau from his new book Toits de Paris on 5, rue St.-Romaine 75006 at his publishers.
Exquisite views in shades of Paris greys.
You come out and automatically look 👁️ up to those rooftops.
Then 👁️ down at the cerises everywhere in the marche
A bit further up rue de Sevres I'm in the irresistable Le Grand Epicerie. I trail after un homme in a cerise red jacket
I pick out a 'designer' box lunch of cerise tomatoes for a snack - a layered affair like a verrine.
Back in the Metro to Sonia's expo in St. Germain. In Le Hune's vitrine this red poster makes me pause. Should I start doing leg circles right here in the street? It couldn't hurt.
Cafe de Flore across the street. Jam packed, every square inch of pavement
I stop at the Cafe de Flore shop, which for once is open.
Naturalment the credit card machine won't take my card so I just buy this packet of cafe magnets and run 🏃‍♀️
At 15,rue Saint-Benoit to la galerie Catherine Houard of Sonia Rykiel  - 2 floors of croqui sketches.
Back into the Metro for a tiny trip to l'Isle St-Louis to pick up a tiny dolls house silver tray at L'Ile Flottante
I check if La Charlotte de L'Isle is open. Not. Only on Thursdays - Sundays. Closed forever😥
Another Metro to an expo of architecture + bande dessine -BD/comic books at Cité de la l’Architecture.
The exhibition covers New York, Paris, Tokyo and the evolution of comic books through various cities and their relationship to architecture
Videos, giant sketchbook blowups, interactive demos where you can turn the pages. Altogether a brilliant display of great drawings
Incomparable city views tied in with cultural aspects...Just Go!
Time for some R & R again
Out comes the silver tray I bought on Isle St-Louis to shoot some still life setups. Plus a gouter of macarons + a tisane de fleurs d'oranger
At last I head home to collapse with a stop in Printemps - displays girls walking dogs. It reminds me of Sonia Rykiel's doodle of dog walkers.
BONJOUR A DAY IN PARIS!

Paris Whites

Do you want to be too gorgeous for words in Paris? Or trop belle as they say?
Then get out your whites. It doesn't have to be white head-to-toe. Just a touch of white will do very nicely. White shirt tails hanging out is IN. Do you have a white doudou? Bon! You're in.When you see blanche dans la rue, not just in the windows/vitrine, you know you better do something and do it fast. J'adore Galerie Lafayette's posters, but I haven't a clue what this one signifies. *Note the white shorts though. More white shorts embroidered in this case. Is this Frenchie going a little de trop with the whites..?A white velo in Galeries Lafayette Home.
An Older French Girl in white on a velo = perfection
White chocolate Tour Eiffel? Bien sur
Stacks of white paper Louis Vuitton trunks.
A favorite silhouette in Galeries Lafayette Home.
Stacks of perfect white cups at Le Bon Marche.
I met up with journalist/blogger Amy of God, I love Paris and neither one of us was wearing a stitch of blanc, but it was non-stop giggles at an experimental dejeuner at LASSERRE (shhh) all the same. Not wearing white doesn't have to be a complete disastre. Amy writes about Paris sweets too so you'll want to stop by
. Here's a semi-white dessert I gobbled up first day back in Paris. Don't ask me what this was or what was inside. A touch of framboise?I haven't a clue except to tell you it was very miam-miam

BONJOUR PARIS WHITES!
