Do Fr Girls Have Longer Legs?

I have to admit that French girls DO have longer, straighter legs. It's a hard fact of life one just has to accept living here.

These are not models imported from wherever like you see all over NYC. These are born and bred Frenchies. I've even noticed moms with daughters, both long-legged.

Of course Ines de la Fressange IS exceptionally tall no doubt about it. I've put up a video of Ines giving a little speech on YouTube (unedited btw so not so hot, still it is Ines, who can do no wrong).

The thought used to be that French girls were all petite like Leslie Caron.
No more.

What are they eating I ask myself to get these legs?
The only historical reference I found were French 19th century costume drawings...perhaps not very relevant?

Clearly Tamara de Lempika was not drawing French slender- legged girls. Were her models Slavic?

When I went to Brazil I noticed the girls/Brasilieras had very curvy hips. I decided this was due to standing in the water lengthy periods of time at Ipanema Beach and letting the waves 🌊 slap their hips. After 3 months of doing the same, my hips were NOT curvy like Brazilieras. It's genetic.

Same deal in France. It's not because they eat a lot of haricot vert.

 It's genetic.

As Americans we're brought up to believe we can change/do anything we want if we try hard enough. This is not true.
C'est la vie.
Especially with the stacks of OFD/'only fabulous desserts' everywhere you look in France.
Here's a little Frenchy with the shortest possible legs.
OK so he/she is a Scotty. She has French citizenship. At least I think she has.

Ines de la Fressange Lipstick

This morning I was sitting on the Metro browsing the latest free newspaper - STYLIST. I was coming back from my 7:00 am swim, when my jaw hit the ground.  OMG
Ines' lipstick big as life. A gloss from Guerlain called Frizzy Mango. Could this be the ONE? omg
Ines' mystery lip gloss! Was it Karmic destiny?
Btw please note Ines' gorge pale, pale pink diamond quilted bag...
It's the Prismick from Roger Vivier...Ines is their brand icon etc.
I decided to investigate further. Is Aimee Leduc having a strong influence on me? I run over to the Guerlain flagship store on Champs-Elysees to check out the glosses...
The vendeuse was totally stumped. She'd never even heard of 'Frizzy Mango'. Where do they get these names anyways? While she goes in the back to search, I paint a swipe in my sketchbook and grab a shot without getting caught. Turns out Guerlain has been out of that color for ages - last season's in fact. Oh no.
So the mystery of Ines' lipstick continues to remain unsolved...dommage
Detective Leduc where are you???
Quite a few PBers write and ask me,
"What's going on in Paris? I arrive 9:30 am on Thursday in June and haven't a clue what to do.."
I wish I could help but I don’t plan ahead. I am totally dependent on the FREE newspapers in the Metro to find out what's on. My fav is A NOUS PARIS - quite classy really.
I'd be up the creek without it. Plus the horoscope from the Metro paper is helpful. PariScope is what most people buy but there are no pictures and such small type. I'm lost.
Next you Must buy ELLE Magazine for serious research over the weekend of what's hot and what's not. French Girl's ELLE was sacred. I didn't dare touch it. Gawd forbid I ripped something out...oh well. Now I can regularly rip out and mark up whatever I want and just it's a 2€. L'indispensable and perfect reading while you're waiting on line to get into the Ron Mueck exhibit.
Your Paris sleuth-on-the-job got new specs yesterday. While passing a pharmacy I looked in and saw black frames exactly like my red frames at half le prix. Inside the darling pharmacist said I looked, "plus jeune"/younger in the black frames so I bought two pairs (30 euros) and felt immediately revived.
Don't worry too much about planning every second of your trip to Paris PBers and leave something to chance and serendipity.
Well that's what I think...

Paris ❤️ Ses kiosques à journaux, Ines de la Fressange,

Samdi 20 Avril Paris ♥ ses Kiosques By chance I ran into Ines de la Fressange.
The ultimate model of Parisian chic and the chosen'Marianne'of France
Her child-like joy was infectious. The occasion was the celebration of 150 years of Kiosques in Paris.
Five days of Paris ♥ ses Kiosques at the pavi de Hotel de Ville
With wonderful old photos of original Parisian Kiosques.
Plus conferences and debates.
The gent in the beard is J.,a kiosquier being honored
Just adorb non?
I asked makeup artist Veronique Marot how she thinks Ines gets such great body in her hair? Marot said,
'Ohhh, she must put those big curlers in her hair too create the big volume and used some Elnett hairspray to make it hold'!
Even the greatest of beauties needs a quick slick of libstick now and then....
Speaking of great beauties I had just come out of Pierre Herme, rue Bonaparte after blowing my week's allowance on his new gorge 'Celeste' series..well on this verrine and one Celeste macaron.
Description:

Translation - a divine combination of strawberries, rhubarb, passion fruit and marscapone = heaven.

It takes an artist to think of other artist's needs. The verrine's packaging is the perfect secure holder for your waterglass when painting.

Ines de la Fressange on rue du Bac

For her December shopping diary Ines de la Fressange of Parisian Chic walks down rue du Bac 75007... I too walked down rue du Bac my last evening in Paris...
It's full of wonderful Frenchie facades...
Loaded with potential leche-vitrine/window gazing...
This tiny print shop, Olivier de Sercey has extremement fine stamps at 220 euros(!)..
Ines adores the handmade Italian home goodies at La Paresse en Douce at 97 rue du Bac...
Moi aussi, especialment these made-to-order cashmere slippers...
You'll never go hungry browsing on rue du Bac. Why not grab an 'animal cracker' style box of macarons at Dalloyau - 63, rue du Grenelle round the corner?
Chocolat Chapon is well worth immersing yourself in chocolate at 69, rue du Bac...
Plus their adorable crockery can serve up your tea or chocolat chaud...
Mais la creme de la creme on 93, rue du Bac is Patisserie des Reves bien sur!
It's a child's playland of pastry for grownups...
I bought this irresitable tarte douce a l'orange...
Plus the 'Limonada', a creamy, lemony ball. The pastries are perfectly packed to withstand the Metro crush. Not that they made it further than 10 steps away...miam miam
Exactly nextdoor this little dog kept watch on the comings and goings on rue du Bac. Ines can't resist saying bonjour.
