Rose Teacup 🥀 Au Nom de la Rose

ROSE TEA CUP ☕️
The story behind February's rose tea cup like the story behind every Paris letter.

I fell madly in love with... a teacup ☕️ I'd seen it on Corey’s blog, Tongue in Cheek. Corey lives in Provence with her French husband
Corey dared me to start Parisbreakfast blog in 2006. Corey's eye for antiques and brocantes cannot be topped. I fell in love with many treasures on her blog...a rabbit tureen is one I remember vividly. We decided to meet up in Paris in 2007 and I begged, turned somersaults, you name it, for Corey to bring along the rose teacup so I could paint it. And paint 🎨 it I did many times.

Visits were required to flower shop chain Au Nom de la Rose. I'm still visiting, this week for souvenirs to put in your Paris letter envelopes.

Finding the right friend for still life setups with rosecup ☕️ is essential

Are you a fan of rose 🥀 flavored teas & syrups.

                   They are pretty to paint.

That's what counts when you're painting still lives.

So many jars of Fauchon rose petal tea

Ridiculous really...

This was my best rose 🥀 tea ☕️ cup and it became February's letter with a few additions like the a personalized ribbon 🎀

 I'm mad for rose petals.

The color variations are wonderful to paint. Always mention your purchase at Au Nom de la Rose is a gift(cadeaux). They will fill the bag with loose rose petals and a stray rose to boot.
I looked high and low for another rose teacup but never found the right one, like Cinderella's prince.

Corey surprised me with a charming rose demi-tasse cup found at Porte de Vanves

Me with tea cakes at hotel Bristol

P comme Petale de Rose

 Petale de rose macarons

Sundays in the Marais flower shops are open. As I passed by Double Pensee on 35, rue Archives 75004

 I was enticed.
Inside Double Pensee (what does that mean? Double thoughts or thinking twice?) was like a million other Paris flower shops - full of bouquets.

Outside were a million little colorful buckets of flowering plants for your balcon.

 Who could resist?

Even though I didn't have a balcon and knew I could never bring my little rose through US customs. I left it for the apartment caretaker.

Off in the Loire vallee I picked up rose petals off the ground to paint.
*No rose bush was harmed for this post.

It's easy to gather your own petale de rose while you may - just grasp the head of the rose in one hand and give the stem a good twist. Stash your rose petals in a plastic veggie bag releasing all the air and store in the fridge. Voila you have rose petals to paint or throw at a bride.

Did you know Pierre Herme created a rose macaron with perfumer Jean-Michel Duriez this spring - Delicious! You can find tea made from rose buds at Fauchon and Cafes Richard. And rose jelly from Au Nom de la Rose.

Bonjour Paris!

A quickie post from Paris!
I overslept!
I can't see straight either - a bit fuzzy here...
And I'm running to the St.-Germain piscine.
Now AirFrance displays arrival in Paris from a camera on top of the plane (TMI/too much information in my humble opinion) but the ride over on a 380 Airbus was smooth as silk if sleepless.
I reccommend highly taking Roissey-Opera bus into Paris. You'll get acclimated more quickly and you'll catch up on sleep you missed the ride over. *Must remember: prep pre-trip next time by sleeping upright in a chair two nights before. First goofy French stuff seen immediately upon exiting the bus at Opera. First amazing pastry I bought at Lenotre (spotted exiting Ecole Militaire metro). Disasterously ruined by bad packing malheureusement. First Metro.
Excellent lunch at the Canteen downstairs at Merci.
First Eiffel Tower (seen on a cup on rue Jacob)
A quick whirl around the new FAB Left Bank Hermes (more to come)
Vitrine at Pierre Herme.
Tomorrow is MACARON DAY!

It's always Spring at Au Nom de la Rose on rue Cler.
Patisserier Gerard Mulot is ready for Spring - but it's raining and I left my umbrella at home.
Yellow duckies at Bonton.
Stripes as always at St. James.
Older French Girls wear RED shoes (as always)
BEAR (who I almost left sitting on the living room couch eeek) is busy bear shopping.
BONJOUR PARIS!

Other People's Printemps

Printemp Paris Rose Teapot, watercolor, 9" x 11"
~
Some people are madly searching for signs of Spring.
Some people have had to look in other people's backyards since Spring is rather reluctant to show up on the East Coast.
I got this glass teapot in Paris at Les Comptoirs Richard and it makes an awfully nice vase in a pinch don't ya think?
Do you know Manon 21?
Well you should! Even though this is an older photo, Manon does divinely poetic French posts.
SVP do drop in.
Heather lives in Paris and has lots of 'Paris Secrets' to tell.
Including that the daffs are out in the parc! Fancy that. Wonder what the French word for daffodil can be?
Watercolorist Sue of A Brush With Color does the best arrangements and these are from her garden. Who is not jealouse?
So far Vienna is neck-in-neck with NYC hanging back in the race to Printemps, but Merisi of Vienna has found flowers on teacups which is nearly as good, well almost.
Yellow roses of Ireland are featured at Harpist Amy and you can hear her play exquisitely to bouquets of roses. *Not to be missed!
Walzing around the Marais (in the days when I could walz) I discovered Vertige on 11, rue de Sevigne 75004.
They specialize in featuring mainly greens.
Don't miss their galerie of greenie photos - simply lush.
Meanwhile artist Ian Sidaway is out sketching in his allotment - Lucky Ian!
Here's what I'd like to be wearing if is were Spring/Printemps.
Here's what I'd eat whilst wearing the above pink pull - all springie colored macarons.
MIAM!
BONJOUR Other People's SPRING!
