This has been a major week for art 🖼️ collectors.
Champagne 🍾 was flowing.

At Grand Palais this weekend.
On Thursday I went to DESIGN MIAMI.
I sat on that curvy wooden thing. Immediately my back hurt.
The Hôtel de Maisons stands as a textbook masterpiece of 18th-century French classical and neoclassical residential architecture. Its structural layout reflects the traditional entre cour et jardin (between courtyard and garden) blueprint favored by the Parisian aristocracy of the Enlightenment era.
A video 🎥 view inside another of Karl’s French homes made by Vogue. Karl was renown for buying houses, redecorating them & never visiting again.
I sat on very comfy Italian chairs & couldn’t get up. The vender & I giggled 🤭 I felt like Goldilocks.
There was a snackbar from tea ☕️ salon Cova..but I passed on their whipped cream buns. Enough slumming with billionaires.
A fun distraction from réalité.
Everyone needs her name on a Perrier -Jouët Champagne 🥂 glass don’t they?

Exciting photos! Thanks for a "day brightener."
ReplyDeleteIt was a joy for me too ☺️
DeleteThe building and interiors are amazing; also the garden is beautiful! I have never seen inside so thank you so much for this. It must have been photographed somewhere in posh magazines or books but I have missed it . The furniture is daring and may not be comfortable..but good to experiment I guess. All the white fabric does not work with my grandchildren who like colored modeling clay and ketchup these days...maybe someday a new scheme? I so appreciate your efforts! for us.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! I had to laugh at the man wearing the Patriots football sweatshirt in that artistic setting!
ReplyDeleteAmerican sports 🏈 clothing is hugely popular in France!?
DeleteThe simple design of his furniture is great background for the fussy environment they sit in. The outside of the building looks more like a government one. This was fun. I like the furniture very much. Lynne
ReplyDeleteAll the furniture on display was from international interior venders. Karl’s furnishings sold at Sotheby’s auction in 2022.
DeleteI didn’t catch the facade from the street, but it is very grand imo.

DeleteThe Hôtel de Maisons (also known as the Hôtel Pozzo di Borgo or Hôtel de Soyecourt) at 51 Rue de l'Université, 75007 Paris, is an 18th-century French neoclassical private mansion in the Faubourg Saint-Germain.
Renown fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld lived in the mansion for over 30 years (roughly from 1977 to 2005).
I hope you realize what an exciting life you have!!! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!!! I never knew Karl’s house was so close to Julia Childs Roo de Loo!!!
ReplyDelete😘from🇨🇦
Interesting fact Nicole! Did Karl ever borrow an egg 🥚 from Julia??
Deletemaybe she whispered “ Bon appétit” in his ear!!! 🤣
DeleteFascinating post Carol. Wonderful photos as always. Very interesting to see inside Karl Lagerfeld's home. The gardens are especially beautiful.-Suzanne P.
ReplyDeleteThe gardens were simply divine! 🍾
DeleteThank you , so many lovely photos to look at. You should be given a BIG AWARD, for the positive imagery of Paris that you are sharing during the aftermath of all the chaos of rioting.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your blog. LOVE PARIS.
THANKS SO MUCH for letting me know ❤️
DeleteWow what a beautiful experience and that magnificent home with incredible variety of artistic pieces.
ReplyDeleteSo fun!! NORMAJEAN
Beauty is the best distraction.

Oh, really exquisite!!!!! Thanks a million!!! I would love to go there. Even though this is not HIS furniture, still so interesting. The one wood chair was gorgeous, and could take a soft cushion!!!! - - Marilyn near Chicago
ReplyDeleteMerci Carol for taking such great photos
ReplyDeleteeverything is so beautiful Karl knew beauty for sure
in the photos where I can see the doors they are exquisite !!! Wow ! Is right !!
Floors not doors but they are also beautiful
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol, for once again, warming my heart! Our social media is so full of chaos and then comes your blog to restore my faith! Ilona x
ReplyDeleteYou hit the mark with your readers. They love you!!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I had sat in one of those impossible chairs, a crane would have been needed to eject me!
When modern chic become so uncomfortatable?
Hugs Annie
Oh the places you go!! Lovely building. I wonder how the house was decorated during Lagerfeld’s tenure. Somehow the modern furnishings just don’t look right to me. How on earth did you resist those cream buns?!
ReplyDeleteEvidently Lagerfeld collected 18th century furnishings.
DeleteThe price on the buns was ridiculous. Much more than in the COVA tea salon. Everything was.
I don't remember seeing Lagerfield furniture and I remember they did a tour when he was alive with his partner. I think he had a dog also but I like the furniture that's in there which I'm not a real modern person. LYNNE
ReplyDeleteKarl had a cat 🐈
DeleteIt is not his furniture.
It is 30 international galleries on display.
He died in 2019 and his furnishings were auctioned off at Sotheby’s.

What a neat experience…thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou would have enjoyed it Dee Ann.
DeleteThe house and grounds are stunning and the furniture (not his) is interesting. I love the woman's head with ivy for hair. Of course I would love one of those wine glasses and it need not have my name on it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a poet fountain ⛲️ with the water 💧 as tears…
