Pretend...

Just pretend you're sitting out at a French cafe this morning...
Merisi wrote this morning (impatiently I might add...)
Here I am, starving, and still waiting for my shot at Paris Breakfast!
Well pretend, Merisi this is your cup of cafe creme...
Why oh why do New York cafes think they can "pretend" to be Parisian?
Give up New York cafes!
Just look on any New York cafe tabletop
Do you see reflections like these?
Malheureusement (unhappily) you do not :(
Pretend your great novel is not going so well...
So what!
You're in Paris
The sun is shining
You can happily nurse your on cup of espresso till the cows come home
No one will care one way or the other...
Only in Paris.
Just pretend you're passing this perfect cafe table on your way to Gawd knows where...
You imagine coming back for dinner with an exciting stranger (Parisian bien sur)
YUM!
Hmmm...the l'addition (bill) has arrived...
Hmmm...the dregs in your cup are talking to you...
Time to get on your bicycle and go off to the real world.
Still it's fun to pretend...sigh

I was slowly wasting away. Now I got the strength up again to stroll over to Demel's, pretend to be in Paris. :-)

  5. ok thats it. you have inspired me: tomorrow i am definitely going to the cafe in my neighborhood by the kamo river in kyoto (check out their site: http://www.ergo-kyoto.com/page003.html) to drink some good coffee and study at a leisurely pace.

love the cafe photos - i still haven't found a place like that in NYC myself yet, but have you ever heard of Waltz-Astoria? It's the closest that I can get to something like in Kyoto or what you show from Paris.

    Dear Carol,

Your photos of Paris this morning are simply perfection!! If there is anything more wonderful than your scrumptious water-colours (and I can’t think of too many things! J) then it would have to be your real life inspiration . . .photographs of beautiful everyday life in the glorious City of Lights. Thank you for your exquisite blog, it inspires and delights more than words can say!

I have tried to leave comments before, but somehow it doesn’t work for me. I do not have a blog and so I click on anonymous, and then proceed, but for some reason my entries never actually appear on the comments post. I thought I would try and email you directly, to express my great appreciation for your lovely work.

You inspired me to go out and buy the new Canon. Got a case for it, too. Now I'll learn to use it!
I'm pretending to be in Madrid!

  14. It's Saturday morning, the first day of a three day weekend here, and I am starting off my day pretending to drink my espresso or cafe au lait in PARIS, thanks to your pictures.

WHAT could be better than that? (okay, actually BEING there, but this comes a close second!) thanks so much....

It all looks dreamy, except for the cigarette smoker at the next table. I always need a reality check so that I don't long too much for Paris. I don't think any city does the sidewalk cafes like Paris, and other French cities do. Why is that?

Thank you, Carol. Viewing lovely, romantic pictures of cafes in Paris is just what I needed after a particularly challenging week.

There's an area in my patio garden that now houses a rarely used swing. Soon the swing will taken away and replaced by a Parisian-style cafe table and chairs creating a place where I can sit and "pretend".

  22. Carol, you have been tagged. Apparently, going around the net is the idea that bloggers tag each other - adding to viewers and interest in blogs (not that you need that from your huge fan base). However, your job now, if you choose it, is to tell us 7 things about yourself and "tag" 7 other artists/bloggers (not the same 7 I chose). I hope you see this as a compliment because I, too, am addicted to your blog and view it daily to see what you've shared with us all - I've never wanted to go to Paris but you are wearing me down!!

  23. That was fun! And now I think my poor broken-heart desperately wants to return to Paris again. Sigh.
