Le Nemours, Fondation Cartier

Yesterday Bonnie emailed, “Come have breakfast with us at Cafe Le Nemours at 9:00

My swim 🏊 bag went back in the closet & I ran 🏃‍♂️ out the door.
Le Nemours is a classic Parisian Brasserie near the entrance to Palais Royal.
Have you been?
Their breakfast menu…
Not an egg 🥚 place per se.
Then the rains ☔️ came.
And didn’t stop.
On and off all day. Classic Paris weather 🌧️
I sat in their apartment window
And doodled ✍️ nonstop.
I was reminded of that Cartier-Bresson photograph of the man running in the rain with his shadow.
I was too high up and far away to capture anything like Cartier-Bresson’s famous ‘decisive moments’ type of shot.
Still…it’s always fun to try.
I ran to get a quick bite. Duck 🦆 breast with Soba noodles.
At Japanese IRASSHAI, a fun, quick, pas cher but tasty place on 40, rue du Louvre, 75001. There are 2 restaurants. Go to the one in the back if you prefer not to wait. Who doesn’t?
I headed to the newly opened Fondation Cartier.just across from the Louvre and formerly headquarters for a melange of tired antiques dealers shops.
At 2 Place du Palais-Royal.
Open daily from 11am to 8 am, except on Mondays.
Open late on Tuesdays till 10 pm.
This huge space was gutted & redesigned by architect, Jean Nouvel.
There are multiple levels.
But you can experience the artworks by looking up
Down.
Or simply straight ahead.
Altogether
A fun
Experience.
Multi-lingual guides answer questions and lead small groups around casually.
The main floor is at street level, bringing outsiders inside.
I sat down and doodled passerbys.
Some people outside were looking in at us!
By the time I left there was a line,
But at least the rain had stopped…for a while.

Hahaha Oh god! We have INTERMITTENT rain ☔️ in Paris. It takes getting used to for visitors 😀 And for me too. I didn’t bring an umbrella yesterday and had to buy…another one. I must own 5 - 6 by now. I am looking for that 5” umbrella 🌂 that expands to full size 🙄

Send the rain over here.p to AZ. We can’t seem to get out of the 90’s here. At least mornings are beautiful. Your soup looked wonderful. Lynne

You were very kind to not have mentioned that although we agreed to meet at 8:30, Nemours didn’t actually open till 9:00! Nevertheless, we persevered in the rain until they opened…by window shopping!
It was fun watching you sketch from our 6th floor windows while we ate nougat and chocolate bears from the Salon du Chocolat! You had a much healthier lunch. Must visit the Fondation Cartier, we’ve been peering in the windows every day.

I need to come sketch everyday…perhaps 2X a day. That was just a warmup.

I haven’t seen anyone else posting about it. Do you know how long it’s been open? How was the gift shop/book store?

      It just opened October 25.
Very big art book/gift shop with the usual T-shirts etc.
      Nothing I couldn’t live without.
