Yesterday in Paris with Marc

Yesterday I stayed in till 4 in the afternoon searching madly for a lost poppy 🌺 watercolor. I finally found it in the poppy file of course.

Then I ran to la poste, and the bank (they are closing early this week). I had plans to go to the movies later at 7:30 🕢 at Lost in Frenchlation.

Christmas Eve at Angelina, Sebastien Gaudard, Ritz Chalet de Noël

As requested more Paris Christmas🌲 I was headed to the Toy Museum in Poissy yesterday, after a dip 🏊🏽‍♀️in the pool. Going to a toy museum around Christmas is always a good idea, but there were perturbations on ligne RER A😧

Change of plans and back to Paris on ligne 1, getting off at Tuilleries.

Yesterday I went to the LV Dream holiday show across from Samaritaine.

It’s supposed to be temporary and you need to reserve, but I have a feeling it is here to stay.

Paris Mené la Danse, Samaritaine

Ballet shines especially during the holidays. Key chaine from the boutique of l’Opera National de Paris.

I kept wondering if some Paris store would feature ballet, dance or Opera Garnier for their Christmas windows.

Last night I was meeting Karen Schneid and her adorable daughters at La Fontaine de Mars

A quick walk down rue Cler was essential.

Marché de Noël 2022 - Suedoise

Swedish red fish candies (I was addicted to these for years on a daily basis until the dentist suggested otherwise) were about the only Scandinavian contact I had before moving to Paris. How about you?

Last night Swedish Solli and I went to the annual Noël marché at the Swedish church in the 17th arrondissement.

Salon Coqs d’Or, Petit Design Katsumi Komagata, Maison de la Culture du Japon

On Sunday, even though it was rainy, overcast and I forgot ligne 14 doesn’t run on Sundays, I went to the annual Salon des Coqs d’Or
It’s def one of the creme de la creme of foodie events in Paris. A superb collection of top French artisanal producteurs. Many never come to Paris except for this pre-Christmas tasting salon.

So easy. Très reasonable. No complicated egg-boiling machine either 👍

Rendez-vous du carnet de voyage, Clermont-Ferrand

Best laid plans etc. You think you’ve figured out all the angles

I even did a test run yesterday to Paris-Bercy station on ligne 14, the fastest metro in Paris, because last time I went in 2019 to Rendez-vous du carnet de voyage in Clermont-Ferrand I got awfully lost in the pitch dark finding the station…the train always departs at 6:57 am (a 4 hour ride to the l’Auvergne). You miss it, you’re toast.

A Japanese Bestiary, Maison de la Culture du Japon

A new show just opened at one of my favorite small museums in Paris ; a Japanese Bestiary at Maison de la Culture du Japon.

Organized with the Edo-Tokyo museum, more than 100 works of art showing how animals were integrated into quotidien life in Tokyo (18th - 19th century).

Fine Arts Paris Biennale, Carrousel de Louvre 2022

A pet monkey and dog are arguing amidst delicious chaos. Still lives are trending this Fall since the Louvre’s major exhibit, Les Choses opened. Painted by Flemish painter Jan van Kessel, a painter active in Antwerp in the mid 17th century, born 1629. It did not indicate whether it was the younger or the elder? He did paint a lot of bugs also.

Yesterday I went to a preview of the preview for Fine Arts Paris held in the
Carrousel de Louvre and on view through Sunday, the 13th.

Chocolate is good for you, Salon du Chocolat

I went back to the Salon du Chocolat on Monday to see what I had missed opening night like this giant sculpture by Francois Daubinet. Is it really made of chocolate? The Answer: OUI from M. Daubinet 👏

There were many chocolate sculptures. Animals are always a favorite. So far no one had taken a bite.

La Galerie Dior

Thursday I went to La Galerie Dior enfin with my sister.

I was a little reluctant after the amazing Dior exhibit at MAD a few years back.
