Made In France/MIF expo, Porte de Versailles

Last year when I went to the annual Made In France/MIF expo πŸ‡«πŸ‡·at Porte de Versailles (on through Sunday), I never found the Gastronomie section.

This year I got directions and made a bee-line 🐝

I managed to spend almost all my time in gastronomie,

Seeing very little else of the other 850 exposants

This show just keeps getting bigger and better each year since I first went in 2014

The French take great national pride in their entrepreneurs, innovation and regional products.

So much blue, white and red πŸ‡«πŸ‡·. I would have killed for one of staff’s classic marinier T-shirts.

I settled for a kilo bag (2.2 pounds) of walnuts from the CorrΓ¨ze area. They had 2 different varieties - one organic/Bio(10€) the other Nature(7,90€).

I asked the owner which one I should get? He whispered,”they are both the same”. I got Nature. They dont taste like any other walnuts. So fresh.

A little girl was learning her jam flavors, part of any French kid’s gastronomical education. She was also double-dipping…uh oh.

The tastings/degustations are the most generous of any Paris show in my opinion.

This might be one of the most fun and interesting shows in Paris and its Free. Tickets are available online. I got the potiron soup and a 4-pomme box of Juliet apples.

Île-de-France area had an adorable Parisian cafe. You could sit πŸ™ and take stock  all your impulse purchases etc.

There will always be miel/honey at any French foodie show. And all of their products:cakes, soap, candies. Its endless.

Very classy Provençal Chocolaterie de Puyricard was there. Yes, I got a box of irresistible marshmallows/guimauve.

They said they don’t bother with the annual Salon du Chocolat anymore. It’s mostly all cacao and not what is once was.

This fromagier is leaning on big rounds of Roquefort from the Aveyron.

They had ‘flights’ (like wine) of strong, medium and mild.

I have ‘flights’ of Holiday letters on Etsy
Be an early bird 🐦 and get your Paris gifts 🎁 sent out πŸ“¬ early. You could order a 6-pack and receive them unfolded. I’m trying to decide is I should go back to MIF and taste these carrot and beet catchups I missed on Friday πŸ€” Bon Dimanche PBers☕️πŸ’‹πŸ‡«πŸ‡·

You’re welcome. Thank goodness these foodie events are NOT daily or I would be a total wreck instead of just partially.

  2. Looks like a fun day but a huge selection of things to see, Gastronomie looks like a good choice, kind of like a market with all the amazing food.

So much to see Kirra. And within the food section so many choices. The folks with dried pasta were not having as much fun.

  3. I liked seeing the booth presentations. The black and white backdrop of the cafe could be my kitchen wallpaper. These shows are visually dizzying. You must leave buzzy with delight.

    2. Carol another great suggestion on great things to do in Paris! It was a bit of a madhouse but we found some super food items and a St James striped shirt! We bought a peach/mango/apricot/passion jam from the place in your photo. Yummy! Found the blue cheese but the hunky guy wasn’t there. We did see the guy in the breifs!

We’ll be in Paris mid April next year, hope there will be a fun fair of any kind to attend.

  5. I'll bet you did not need to eat after all of your tastings. Reminds me of of huge Costco stores in U.S. People just graze while they shop. I remember last year you went to other sections, too. So huge it would be difficult to see all.

I did go out for dinner but was not ravenous. Yes I missed the soaps etc. I thought of going back today but work calls.
