Last Minute Paris Shopping

Yesterday I went looking for gluten-free pain d’épice (on assignment)

I think it doesn’t exist

But everyone was out hunting for something or other.
So I just took pictures…
Poor mommy trying to make decisions

Iwas mostly in Galeries Lafayette
With the grandest tree
The shiniest lights.

The shiniest outfits
The shiniest, bronzy Büche de Noël from Dalloyau
Under a thin shell of chocolate, a hazelnut and vanilla mousse from Tahiti, biscuit flavored with muscovado sugar, creamy Piedmont hazelnut and its heart flowing hazelnut praline, all on a crispy caramelized dried fruits/Sous une fine coque de chocolat, une mousse noisette et vanille de Tahiti, biscuit parfumé au sucre muscovado, crémeux noisette du Piémont et son cœur coulant praliné noisette, le tout sur un croustillant de fruits secs caramélisés. Pour 6 personnes Yum Yum
With the most kids
With maybe the best windows
For the kids
I am a big fan of Galerie Lafayette Gourmet
For browsing seasonal pastries
(I only browsed yesterday🤸🏾‍♀️)
Maybe I was still full from celebrating darling Solli’s birthday at Berthillon on Wednesday.

They have the best tarte Tatin in town by the way (a well-kept secret).
Berthillon’s salon de thé
Is the downtown Angelina without the long lines and long wait.
I hope you enjoyed a look around Paris during the holidays dear PBers. Do you want to see more? Dite moi.
French news radio is full of the bad weather in the US 🙏 Please take care and keep warm☕️ I swear by flannel blankets.

There cannot be a better place in the world for last minute shopping than Paris. And those desserts. Beautiful!!

Holidays, birthdays, glad you are having such a festive season. ❤️

Here in New England, flannel sheets are for fall & spring. Winter calls for bringing out the fleece sheets. How many wool blankets you pile on top, under your down duvet, depends on the outside temps. Cozy, but I’d much prefer being in Paris enjoying the beauty of your French holiday season.

    Joyeux fêtes, Carol !

Thank you for the suggestion. I got her chestnut flour crackers and Pain d’épice for the rest of us. If places like Naturalia & Bio Comme Bon(etc.) don’t have it…I gave up. There is only so much running around you can do🙏

Berthillon’s tea salon is something of a well-kept secret, non? We had breakfast there one morning, it was sparsely attended. Many peeps standing in long lines at the window could instead sit in air conditioned luxury in the tea salon.
Your bday party with Solli looked fab! B.

It’s true. They do do breakfast. I don’t think they have a lunch menu per se, but plenty of ice cream and wonderful pastries 🥮 It was only a tea salon to begin with. The ice cream came later on and took off

I love your soirées! Paris Christmas windows are magical. I will be back in Paris the first week of January. Maybe some of the displays will still be there? That Artic cold blew all the way down to Houston yesterday. The temperature is 17F this morning!

I love seeing things that are traditions elsewhere. I've adopted few over the years. Like buying a bouche de Noel. Keep taking more of those ideas in and sharing them with us.

  20. Merry Christmas Carol! Thanks for this fabulous post, always love seeing the Galeries Lafayette Christmas tree!
Thank you for also sharing the secret of the Berthillon tea room, will definitely have to go there ‘next time’, tried Angelina last time but line up was too long so missed out. I’m a big tea and cake fan!
The desserts do look good but I prefer our Australian pavlova for Christmas Day dessert. Looking forward to a nice warm day here, 32C/86F, as it’s our summer time. Keep warm everyone else!

Ahhh…I Love Pavlova Kirra - so light and fruity. Hard to find here. In Summertime occasionally. Berthillon is much smaller and more cosy then Angelina ☕️
