Place des Vosges

Tuesday was a gorgeous day in Paris. I didn’t get out of the house until 6:23 pm for a late dash to the Poste.

If I didn’t run to la Poste most days to mail your letters 💌 I stay inside all day drawing ✏️ like most artists.

Sending letters from Paris
 is a very good thing😊
On a whim I went into Place des VosgesGetting outside and inhaling l’aire frai (fresh air) will always fix you,
Especially if its Paris l’aire frais.
A very good idea on a beautiful day.
Menus reading is a fun pastime, imagining what you could order. Do you do it too?
I stopped at a cafe to talk to a giant Black Russian Terrier. He just arrived in Paris for a 2 month stay and no jet lag.

I ❤️ Love empty cafe tables.
I wish I had the patience to linger. This is at Ma Bourgogne.
Black with red combo is always so chic…
This business (?) man’s dog’s paws were properly on the table. French table manners demand hands on table.
One of the many kicks I get out of living in Paris is shooting abandoned cafe tables. Each has a story to tell. Who was there? What was the conversation? I always plan to paint them later.
I’m nuts for Cafés Richard’cups and saucers. Some are colored blue and yellow—the Ukraine’s colors.
I had to paint them.Thank you for reading Parisbreakfast. Please pass on to someone you think might enjoy it. If you like this post you can support it by buying my letters and watercolors from Paris. ☕️ ☕️☕️☕️☕️ Bon Weekend PBers

Claude Monet’s Tea Cup

The real reason I went back to Giverny last week was not just tulips.

I remembered they had stunning blue and yellow china cups from Monet’s dining room in their boutique.

I was thinking of buying a single cup and saucer to paint.

The eggcups looked enticing too. Don’t you agree?

Thanks to Marge M. ❤️ I found out this is Haviland Limoges. Very good taste M.Monet👍

They used to sell Monet’s straw hat for a song 🎵

But that has disappeared. When you’re traveling & fall in love ❤️with something. The rule is: GET IT. Otherwise you’ll torment yourself your entire life. I’d meant to get one.

They do still have Frederic Dessard’s adorable miniature models. You can buy the entire dining room in a box and bring it home. Or visit his shop down the street.

A little tour around Monet’s dining room from my last visit.

I thought I might paint this yellow chair.

Or this bunch of yellow flowers.

The view out the kitchen window is pure poetry.

And the window light on this brass pitcher. Definitely an artist’s home. FYI I looked at the online boutique and there is no blue and yellow china to purchase. Dommage. They probably don’t want to ship overseas or deal with breakage. You will just have to go to Giverny, buy on-site and bring it home yourself.

Or…you could visit my etsy shop and buy a single watercolor Monet cup for a song 🎵 Thank you for reading Parisbreakfast. Please pass on to someone you think might enjoy it. If you like this post you can support it by buying my letters and watercolors from Paris. I promise it won’t break. ☕️ ☕️☕️☕️☕️

Bleu Blanc Rouge

I’m so happy M. Macron is continuing as president of France 🇫🇷 🍾🤸‍♂️

I went off on a Vichy  red check painting tangent today

Especially since Sabra check spoons 🥄  came into my life.

It doesn’t take much for me to become red-checked obsessed.

These are actually Real shoes from MuiMui! I’m always looking at feet. Maybe because I used to design shoes

I saw these the other day on the Metro. Someone can’t wait for Summer.
Speaking of Summer, Maison d’Isabelle can’t wait to show off their Summer fruit Tartes. Perfect way to celebrate the election outcome🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷

A HQ for Vichy check candy boxes, the very Frenchy shop for checkered accessories, H.Moinet.

Is confisierie Maison Moinet of Vichy.

Their tins and boxes are irresistible. The town of Vichy has been making checked cloth since the 17th and 18th century.

George Washington requested of his nephew living in Paris to send him Vichy check seat covers for Mount Vernon.

The Vichy check is a common, everyday fabric, yet its an instant reminder of classic French bistros.

La Fontaine de Mars Watercolor
And you can’t get more classic bistro than Le Fontaine de Mars. Have you been? Really fun. Well s’il vous plait raise a glass 🍾to Emanuel et Brigitte👏👏👏 Some  checkered watercolors are waiting on Etsy. Bonne Monday PBers❤️💋🇫🇷

Eggs on the ground

Spring has arrived in Paris. Even some halter dresses are out.

Its the time big egg rolls take place in Luxembourg gardens, jardins de Plantes, Chateau de Chantilly
Strictly for les gosses/kids.
For the adults I promised a show of Paris Easter chocolate
Holy eggs for the holiday
The innovation each year knows no bounds. Dalloyau has an Italian theme based on Memphis design.
Pierre Hermé is focused on prehistoric fossils. Ask me no questions…etc.
Bernachon of Lyon
(now also in Paris) sticks with the classic and recognizable chocolate hens, bunnies and bells. You can be sure this hen is full of ‘garni’ - the little chocolate treats inside, more eggs and mini chocolate fish
Boulanger de la Tour
of renown Tour d’Argent, has their witty signature duck/canard for 59€ a pop (minus the garni).
The best looking bear 🐻 in town resides at Maison Mulot
They also have adorable tiny chocolate, ribboned eggs with goodies inside for mere 5,50€. I bought one hoping to add it to a still life.
But I exerted too much pressure and it shattered. I had asked in the shop if they thought it would stand up vertically. Everyone looked at me weirdly. They brought out their English-speaking sales person and I could see she thought it an odd question too. Buying still life objects is not as easy as you might think 🤔
Maison Mulot has beautifully prepared food like these Spring salads, if you’ve recently been awarded a trust fund. One never knows.
Speaking of still life subjects…
I have surrounded myself with pale pink tulips my local florist happened to have.
Then because, its the season, I went looking for ONE peony/pivoine. Harder to find than a hen’s tooth.
I ended up with 6 beautiful buds from the superb Maison Beaufrere in Saint Germain marché.
They are bursting into bloom faster than I can paint them, but that hasn’t stopped me from trying. The results are up in my Etsy shopThank you for reading Parisbreakfast.
