Claude Monet’s Tea Cup

 

The real reason I went back to Giverny last week was not just tulips.

I remembered they had stunning blue and yellow china cups from Monet’s dining room in their boutique.

I was thinking of buying a single cup and saucer to paint.

The eggcups looked enticing too. Don’t you agree? 

Thanks to Marge M. ❤️ I found out this is Haviland Limoges. Very good taste M.Monet👍

They used to sell Monet’s straw hat for a song 🎵 

But that has disappeared. When you’re traveling & fall in love ❤️with something. The rule is: GET IT. Otherwise you’ll torment yourself your entire life. I’d meant to get one.

They do still have Frederic Dessard’s adorable miniature models. You can buy the entire dining room in a box and bring it home. Or visit his shop down the street.

The view out the kitchen window is pure poetry. 

And the window light on this brass pitcher. Definitely an artist’s home. FYI I looked at the online boutique and there is no blue and yellow china to purchase. Dommage. They probably don’t want to ship overseas or deal with breakage. You will just have to go to Giverny, buy on-site and bring it home yourself.
