Why do Bunnies 🐇 Bring The Easter 🐣 Chocolate

J O Y E U X 🐣P Â Q U E S 🐣T O U T🐣L E🌷M O N D E

Yesterday I went Easter 🐣 Chocolate Hunting 🐇

Everyone else had the same idea.

It was packed out there. Large golden egg

Even larger EGG 🥚 Ladurée’s finest

Chef JULIEN ALVAREZ.

Mignon/Cute !

ALAIN DUCASSE’S SUPER Large chocolate egg - size of a 5-year child 👦 (no price tag shown)

Very big sewing 🧵themed chocolate egg

Flat chocolate eggs from Pierre Hermé,

Left me flat…

BONTEMPS PATISSERIE
has the most adorable display

Of classic chocolate Easter eggs tied with a bow 🎀

Realistic, Brown Eggs 🥚 look straight from the nest 🪺 and cost a fortune, but are actually a steal if you do the math (how much € per kilo of chocolate etc.)

Very pretty entremet by Ladurée combining ‘mac and cheese chocolate 🍫 eggs’.

FYI, An entremet in Medieval French cuisine referred to dishes served between the courses of the meal, often illusion foods and edible scenic displays. The term additionally referred to performances and entertainments presented between the courses).

So why does a bunny 🐰 deliver the Easter 🐣 eggs??

C/O JAQUES GENIN
Easter Bunny's origins goes back to the 18th century when the Easter Bunny was thought to have been first introduced in the Pennsylvania Dutch area in America by German immigrants.

They bought with them the story of the egg-laying hare named 'Osterhase' or 'Oschter Haws'.

Egg-laying rabbits would give brightly colored eggs as gifts to well-behaved children 🧒 👦

As part of the ritual, children created nests 🪺 for the bunny to lay eggs 🥚 in.

This tradition eventually spread across the whole of North America.
Since ancient times, eggs 🥚 and RABBITS 🐇 have been a symbol of fertility, while spring has been a symbol of rebirth
So even though rabbits don't lay eggs, the association of these symbols was a natural.

  12. Thanks for the fancy chocolate tour of Easter Paris! And for answering a very good question - why does a rabbit bring chocolate eggs? I never knew so that was fun to read.
My sister lives in Germany and apparently there the rabbit brings presents as well as chocolate, so her son got both. Seems a bit over the top to me, but they don’t have hot cross buns so they are missing out in my view!
I like just a smallish hollow egg to break apart and eat, nothing too fancy but good quality chocolate for the egg.
Happy Easter Carol! Enjoy the sunshine 😎

Your charming Easter egg hunt in fabulous chocolate shops brings back memories of an Easter we spent in Paris in 1991. I was astonished at the gorgeous tulips in the parks and gardens. The InterContinental Hotel had the largest chocolate egg displayed in the lobby I had ever seen. The elegance was such a contrast to the happy messy egg dyes we did at home.

Is it only the French 🇫🇷 who love a GIANT CHOCOLATE EGG? It’s a national trait 🤔
