Summer in the City 🌞

Yesterday everyone was dressed for

SUMMERTIME
Meanwhile I was wearing a black turtleneck, red jacket, black raincoat - SO WRONG 👎

 Stripes are so Summery

Tank tops coming

Tank tops going

Red-striped tank top + Big, Wooly scarf…just in case.
I can so relate to this.

Obligatory red beret…hmm

Red-check napkins = Summery.

Red-striped awning

Red Summer

Flowers 🌺

An umbrella ☂️ just in case?

A pitcher of citron-menthe looks refreshing…

Out-of-towners looking at…

A blow-up man attached to the grate blowing back & forth…

I stopped in Fragonard, 5 rue Bordreau, 75009

Where it’s Summer

All the time.

Even the Metro is thinking Summer.

Have you been to Béziers? Béziers is one of the oldest cities in France. The ancient Greek colony dates from 575 BCE, making it older than Agde and younger than Marseille (Greek Massalia, founded in 600 BCE).

I got an ice cream 🍦 yogurt-mango to get in the spirit of things

Naturalement I browsed Galerie Lafayette Gourmet

For Summery

Food - the most lush

Lemon 🍋 meringué tarte
in town.
🍦
Suddenly I’m ready for Summer.

Love this. Mentioning Frogonard reminded me of the time we visited the parfumerie in the south and leaving with many different forms of their perfumes as gifts.
I love the “shot in the arm” you give me of Paris and French culture. Thank you. I hope to get back one day. From Mid Atlantic USA ❤️🙏

Thank you for this glimpse of summer! I too am still in black turtleneck, Uniqlo HeatTech no less!, in blustery New England. Cannot wait for tank top weather.
Béziers has called to me since reading about the Cathar Crusades…they have quite an interesting history. Time for a field trip?

CATHAR CRUSADES: The Albigensian Crusade, also known as the Cathar Crusade, was a military and ideological campaign initiated by Pope Innocent III to eliminate Catharism in Languedoc, what is now southern France. The Crusade was prosecuted primarily by the French crown and promptly took on a political aspect.
      Hmmm 🤔

‘One of the most infamous moments of the Crusades against the Cathars took place in Béziers: in 1209 after a valiantly defended siege the entire population of the city were slaughtered – even those who took refuge in the Cathedral of St Nazaire – when the Crusaders led by Simon de Montfort stormed the defenses.’ This despite the inhabitants of Béziers being quite innocent of involvement with the Cathars.

Loved this post as I'm always ready for summer. I've been to Beziers twice and found it enchanting and full of history. The first time we arrived on flower market day and I had never seen anything like it. Our hotel room overlooked the main street with more flowers than I had ever seen in my life.

Perhaps the lady with the umbrella was protecting her lovely skin from the Sun! French women seem to be much wiser than many of us Americans when it comes to the effects of tanning....

Hmmm….the French are mad for tanning imo. On a chilly, sunny day in March a woman was out sunning in a bikini! Everyone else was bundled up.

  8. Glad the sun is out for you a feeling summery! Enjoy the ice cream, sounds tasty.
It’s still sunny here in Australia but it’s time to wear a jumper and sometimes a raincoat as the weather cools.
