A few years ago I painted a Christmas Letter featuring LE BON MARCHÉ.
This year’s theme at Bon Marché is Christmas marché chalets.
‘A chalet is a type of building or house, typical of the Alpine region in Europe, made of wood, with a heavy, gently sloping roof and wide, well-supported eaves.’
Selling pretzels 🥨 & 4€ roasted marrons.
Multi-chalets hide the escalators
Stunning perfumes by Piver in the chalets.
Imagine your name etched ✍️ onto a large gift 🎁 bottle of Guerlain perfume…Yum Yum 😋
Across the street at La Grande Epicerie, From MEERT of Lille.
Inside GRANDE ÉPICERIE more chalets full of goodies
But not too late for Angelina’s panetonne with their crème de marron in a tooth paste tube.
At the bûche de Noël counter…
Want a page from Meert’s beautiful Christmas catalog shown here?

This is PHENOMENAL! Absolutely gorgeous! I'm glad LVMH is spending lots of money to bring delight to shoppers in this way. Let this always be the case! The French department store experience lives on! Thank you Carol for sharing these wonderful photos. Bonjour from Susanne xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for this beautiful post Carol!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for bringing Paris to us. These are fabulous. What fun the interior displays are. There is nothing quite like it here, as you know. I also noticed that the store doesn't look packed with shoppers. Is that typical the week before Christmas? Just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carol, for sharing these sumptuous temptations! I just returned from Bordeaux— which is clearly not as opulent as Paris. However, I received a beautiful gift bag that included: salted caramel sauce, a chocolate Christmas tree, and chocolate gummies! Ooh la la. Unimaginable treats that only the French seem able to create.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic post! Thank you so much. The effort and money they put into their stores boggles my mind and is such a contrast to here on the West coast of the US. No more needs to be said 🥲
ReplyDeleteJust so beautiful How wonderful the chalet look is at Le Bon Marche brilliant !!
ReplyDeleteMerci Carol for taking us there this year Always love your artwork the best 😍
This post is a glorious treat! I'd love to hop on the next plane to CDG to see those wonderful chalets at Bon Marché...maybe next year!
ReplyDeleteAll those luxuries…so fun to ogle! I found a jar (not a smaller tube), of Angelina Creme de Marrons in the cupboard yesterday, smeared it on a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel and it was heaven! Reminder to myself: do not leave Paris without at least one jar in suitcase! Small luxuries…❤️
ReplyDeleteLove the chalets and so clever the way they hide the elevators.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to see all that festive creativity in the stores - makes shopping for gifts a delight. I’m writing from Australia and did a bit of a double take at the marron cream use as here marron is a fish - thank goodness for google- chestnut sounds much nicer on those treats. Thank you for all your great tales this year and a safe and happy Christmas to you and all your readers 🎄
ReplyDeleteLove the guided tour - total eye candy!
