While Paris is unseasonably warm in the 60’s, I’m thinking of freezing Texan PBers - over 130 !The bus 86 stops exactly in front of top artiste chocolatier Christian Constant. at 40, rue des Ecoles. Impossible not to ‘lecher les vitrines’. His chocolate tartes are renown and superb. And they make ‘fait maison’ Apricot confiture/jam.The labo is onsite, which is unusual. Such a brill idea -individual pecan tartes.
On my way to the art store I spot metro posters of a collab of Uniqlo + the Louvre. If you can’t visit the museum, wear their paintings. Why not? And color π️ it in?
A cosmetics shop displays their cremes like tubes of paint.
Turns out the art store takes a lunch break between 1 and 2 pm. I went looking for a snack. Nearby KR Patisserie on boulevard Voltaire has quite artful desserts.
Turns out it is also the most fragile and should come with instructions, “eat me immediately”...still tasted quite nice.
Now that Chandeleur/pancake eating is over, the must-eat is Raclette.
Have you tried this Swiss cheesy-potato dish? I haven’t but its always at Salon de l’Agriculture.

ReplyDeleteI think about and pray for the people in Texas. My furnace went out over night this week but I was lucky to have heat restored the next morning.
I have always wanted to try reclette.There are electric reclette grills available. Is fondue popular in Paris?

Raclette, fondue, tartiflette...count me in for anything with melted cheese! That sandwich looks irresistible. Paris is definitely the land of temptations. You have marvelous self-control, Carol. Beautiful watercolors!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your support of Texas. It has been a surreal experience here in Austin. There was only enough power to service the essential buildings in this capital city so everyone else was in the cold and dark. My neighbors and I were without power & heat for three days (even when it was 8 (!) degrees Fahrenheit outside).
ReplyDeleteBut there were many blessings as everyone took care of each other. And today - we can again drink the water! What an odd situation to have that to be thankful for in this land of plenty. Makes one humble since typically we take creature comforts for granted.
We still dream of coming to Paris this year. Stay well! And thank you for sharing your talent with us. It has been a highlight of the past, difficult year.

Lose water but many of my friends did for six days !!!
Our high was in the teens, we had a low of 3 degrees and 6 inches of snow and ice.
Ahhhhhh, to be in Paris !!!!! I wonder if we will ever get to travel again ?????

As a thawed out Texan/PBer I Thank you Carol! You have such a generous heart. We live somwhat off grid, meaning that we had wood, a wood stove, well water and plenty of food stored up out here in the country, that we were fine. But my husband Drove to Waco in our 4-wheel drive truck on twice-iced-over roads to fetch my mom and our two grown daughters whose homes were all out of electricity and water for four days when the temps hit 5 degrees Fahrenheit! Thankfully they spent most those days with us, toasty and together. I know there are so many harder stories than ours and Texans are appreciative of all the generous kindness towards helping those who suffered the worst❤️

I think you chose an impressive dessert, hope it was good despite being squished a bit. Those chocolate tarts look dangerous!
I’ve had raclette and it’s tasty, melted cheese over veggies (and meat if you want).
