Yesterday 75002

Yesterday I had to go to Centre des finances publiques for a copy of my 2023 taxe d’habitation form, which I couldn’t find anywhere at home (same ole, same ole). Turns out we no longer pay the annual 400€ taxe d’habitation 🍾🤸‍♂️

Feeling great relief (and since I was near Galerie Vivienne) I thought I’d take a stroll.

First stop - a cute boulangerie for a ‘relief’ snack

I got a tartine/open-face sandwich slathered in mozzarella & tomato with one piece of black olive…

We’re having faux Spring weather, so I sat on a bench and ate outside.

Around the corner, Designers Guild  interiors shop.

They’ve hung their drapes on the café across the street

Next door, Christian Lacroix interiors. Just what you need - a giant Opera Pink Lacroix bolster in your salon…

Across the street, ultra classic Paris bistro, Chez Georges. T
hey’re open on Monday! Many are not.

They serve the
same classic menu since 1964. I remember ordering salade de lentilles (in 2010) thinking…oh a nice green salad with some lentils. Instead
a Louvre pyramid of lentilles arrived. No lettuce 🥬 🫣 So French.

Another lunch place for Parisian office people on rue des petit pères.

Dammann Thé
 has a handsome, discreet black
shopping bag/cabas in their window

Impossible to catch because of sunny 🌞 reflections. Not complaining ☺️

Other casual strollers

At last, around the corner -
Galerie Vivienne. Who knew they have a website?

A look in luxury windows of silk shop Wolff & Discourtis. No sale signs.

Next door sales !

A French woman
forages..cuts are getting steeper 👏

News Alert! Le Valentin has taken over A Priorie Thé ☕️ salon in the passage.

Yum Yum

Since 1826

The
bookstore is still there

Heading out the back entrance

Past everyone’s favorite Paris restaurant, Le Grand Colbert.

What will you have today?

            ☕️ Or buy me a KO-FI ☕️

I love my morning “walk” with you. Wish I could hop on a plane and fly over. In the “old days” with digital camera, you could attach a polarizing filter and stand to the side to capture window scenes without the unwanted other shadows. Not sure how to do that with a phone camera. I bet google has the answer to that. Thanks for all your wonderful adventures

It’s best to shoot Paris windows at night to avoid those reflections

Just a, hopefully useful, comment: days of the week being masculin in french, "Bon Tuesday" would probably sound better.

Loved today's stroll - all so familiar - isn't that St Paul? Looks so like it, but it's not in the 2nd near Gallerie Vivienne.

The menu of Le Grand Colbert puzzles me: what is “plat ou plat” vs. just “plat”? since “plat ou plat” costs more? Does it mean two main dishes or more choices? Never seen that before

I did not ‘spend a penny’ except for the tasteless, overpriced tartine. (6€)
I came home, dumped tomato sauce, chopped olives & Italian tuna on it and grilled it in the oven.
Shoulda taken a picture! Finally yummy.

  18. Congrats on saving 400 Euros! Looking at some of the street fashionI am not going to be too concerned about what I pack for my next trip . You were in my favorite stomping ground the Palais Royal. It’s been 10 long years since my last trip to Paris. Things come & go. I liked Rose de Rosine Perfume shop, and a very small jewelry store at the end. Galerie Vivienne is lots of fun. Thanks for taking me down memory lane, Carol🗼❤️

Your posts and your art are inspirational and lovely!! Was in Paris at Christmas and wandered through the enchanting Galerie Vivienne and later, the near-by Galeries Lafayette. A late lunch at the Grand Colbert was wonderful except for the condescension of the waitress (who told us that the chef only cooks filets "a point", while I requested that my husband's filet be cooked to medium (temperature). Fortunately, another gracious waiter took the husband's steak back to the kitchen for "le rechauffer."

James
