Fashion cannot be ignored when you travel. You’d miss out on a lot of fun. local fashion reveals just as much as local museums and food in my opinion. Do you check what ppl are wearing and the windows when you travel?I didn’t see one strong dominant color on the Riviera, but lots of oversized white shirts. So much for the after Labor Day rule..

Here’s the trick - if you want Fr subtitles, hit the 3 dots in upper right corner for the dropdown menu. If its Vogue’s visit Paris apartment series they offer 2-3+ languages. Some videos offer zero. Still useful to know!
So here’s the thing. Are polka dots only for older gals? I’m leaning a lot towards going dotty lately :()
In the Cannes marché I found a good look-alike pair for my new fancy sunglasses(5€). Fun post, Carol! Love seeing what people are wearing in the south of France…their style has a definite tropical/southern vibe. Trim, fit women…being in a climate where your body is always exposed must help with that battle??
ReplyDeleteI watched the 1961 version of Pagnol’s Fanny on an Air France flight just a few years ago. It starred Charles Boyer, Maurice Chevalier, and Leslie Caron (Audrey Hepburn had signed on to play Fanny but dropped out at the last minute). Between being sad at leaving France and the melodrama of Fanny I went through a packet of tissues!
Go with polka dots…timeless, ageless…love them!
I love your posts where ever you go-you are always entertaining, fun and informative. That emerald green dress is marvelous - my favorite color. The polka dotty thing almost looks like pajamas and a robe. I'll stick to oversized white shirts, thank you.

ReplyDeleteI've loved the Riviera posts! I'll never get Jeff down there although I've been a couple of times in past lives. I do have to speak up: The rule is, and always has been, no white SHOES after Labor Day, except for nurses, brides and tennis players. Of course, Labor Day is an American holiday. In France, the equivalent is probably May 1st, so that wouldn't make any sense of all.

I love seeing what other people are wearing in different parts of the country/world and am an admirer of food presentation which is always top notch in France. I think polka dots are fun.
