Paris, Monday morning

Trying to be ambitious this morning I headed out to the pool at 7:45 am. So much for best laid plans...
Passing my local boulangerie de la Tour as fast as I can without stopping in
They are hard at work on the viennoiseries
Joggers (footers) are racing right by my boulangerie too
Dads are herding the kiddies to school
I get to piscine Pontoise. They're closed for technical reasons. Hmmm. I look in another boulangerie, flirting with temptation
La Parisienne is a prize winner
Best baguette in 2016. The address should say 52, bd Saint Germain
A Hopper-like worker gently placing the cookies. Why do all French workers look like they walked out of a Hopper painting?
Beautiful croissants but I resist merci dieu.
Back on the street  the parents are coming
And going
Little Red Riding Hood is late! I was Always late to school as a kiddie and I lived only a block away. Were you late too? I'm still a johnny-come-lately.
Dad hitches a ride.
Clearly RED is the IN color this Fall.
Even on my street red is the color of choice.
Most Paris concierges wear black when they're polishing the front door brass. I run back to my studio. I'm late with September's Paris map! Can you guess the subject?

I guess it was a good thing the pool was closed otherwise I would have missed all the morning action!

Me, too, I loved this post because of the children hurrying to school, but more than that, the RED! I have always liked RED and just recently acquired a new, used RED Jeep. It looks so nice sitting in my driveway! ha, ha. I have a red front door, red cushions on the porch furniture, red dishpan, red toaster, red geraniums, red teapot, red cups, red tulips, (not blooming now, of course) found a collapsible red Radio Flyer for my Grandson at the Thrifty Shop, red towels in the bathroom and kitchen,......AND a new red jacket from Costco. So there! I am in "vogue." Thanks so much for this Monday morning post!

    1. Living here you fortunately build up an immunity to croissants over time.
It took 1-2 years to be sure!!

  5. So I loved this morning walk ... the neighborhood and quiet early streets feel so inviting; especially since I am viewing on my laptop instead of my phone for a change! GeriNJ

  6. Just arrived in Paris last week from NY. Actually, mustard yellow seems to be the coleur-du-jour.

What fun to read about your Paris Monday morning as mine has begins here in the Shenandoah Valley. Your damp, cool day is a contrast to the unusual heat here these days - 10 degrees above the normal 75 for early fall. Great for pumpkins' final flourish, but I’m ready for your cooler weather. I enjoyed the damp stroll around your neighborhood this morning.

  10. This is one of my favorites.
I feel like I had a Paris morning.
Loved the photo of your island path with your bridge and the gorgeous red coat.

  11. I think your walk was more inspirational than my walk. I saw dogs and ducks, and kids riding their bikes on sidewalks. I love seeing a father taking their child to school. Did not realize it was so cool in France.

  13. Good morning from Sydney, I so enjoyed joining you for a morning walk in Paris, and salivated at the boulangier windows. I must confess I am looking for a French home within walking distance of a Boulangier.
It is your artist eye that sees Hopper in tje simple scenes of the workers, yes I agree I love the silence of Hopper painting, he is a favorite artist of mine. Sending kind regards Vaness aka - M de L

You should have le petit déjeuner at a boulangerie or a patisserie every morning, not at home!! I always did when I lived in Italy.

  17. Bless you for getting up in time to take that fabulously lit photo of a cathedral (Charteres?)!! And the framing of the baker in the big blue O - genius! I myself have become a complete slug - I no longer rise before the sun :-( so I miss that glorious light.
RE: the red riding hoods - have your seen the movie set in Venice "Don't Look Now" with Donald Sutherland? very oldie but I consider it very telling that, all these years later, it it still burnt into my brain.

    2. Loved this post. The pastries and I love to see Parisian children and how they are dressed. I have noticed a couple photos of yellow umbrellas. Just not the same. Red pops. I learned just how much from this blog. Carries over for me to flowers in the garden. Enjoy fall.
