Very charming, as usual. I have to tell you the story of my first visit to Paris in 1976. It was June, I was the classic impoverished student, albeit somewhat older than student age. I'd taken along one black dress and some shoes and hose to go with it, and decided to splurge on a proper meal. Dressed up, and it was a little chilly, so I put on my spring coat/rain coat, which was a red trench coat. Went into restaurant near hotel on Ile de la Cite, waited politely in line. Heard Madame's voice raised. Glanced up, couldn't figure out what was going on. More carrying on, coming closer. Mom always said "Don't stare!", so I just kept my head down; obviously there was some sort of scene being played out. Noise (et Madame) now almost on top of me, I look up, and there's Madame shrieking - at ME. I am being unceremoniously shooed out. My I-don't-speak-French protestations inaudible with the noise. I leave, of course, stunned.
Years later, I am relating the story to a friend as we shop. A woman comes up to us. "It was the coat, my dear. Nice women don't wear red. My mother-in-law is French, and she is very upset that we dress our little girl in red at Christmas!"
So vibrant! Red really is so summery although it's the last color I'd have thought of. Did you find your place in Paris for October? If not I can help you. Internet is my main concern and it took awhile to figure that debacle out. It was worth it cause the last thing you need is to stress over your connection while you're there.
How appropriate - the birthstone for July is Ruby- so enjoyed the ruby red pictures this morning. ...have a July birthday (don't seem to have any rubies... but enjoyed these!)
Summer fruits just beautiful and red shoe's. l love ballerinas. If you see red and yellow bigger cherries get some. They only have one harvest a year but they taste fantastic.
That red show is to die for!! I could slip it on and grab a handful of cherries and dance my way around Paris, passing all those lovely red facades you show us... Wouldn't that be a delight? Must not forget to stop in NICOLAS for bottle of RED!! Lovely post today as always,
Do you know if it possible to purchase the tickets to the Salon du Chocolat in advance? My friend and I would like to avoid the lines as much as possible... although it being Paris, that may be too much to ask!
I SAW LOTS OF ORANGE IN THE WINDOWS IN PARIS BUT NO ONE ON THE STREET WAS WEARING IT, MAYBE 'CAUSE THE STREET CLEANERS WEAR ORANGE SUITS? I PAID MORE ATTENTION TO THE WINDOWS BECAUSE OF YOUR POSTS, WHEN MY HUSBAND WASN'T RUSHING ME. I ALSO SAW A LOT OF PAPER THAT WAS CUT OUT LIKE STENCILS. DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT WAS ALL ABOUT, IT WAS INTERESTING, THOUGH.
Hello, What do women wear in paris in summer? Before I go ahead, is there any pointers you might have? Please point me in the right direction. Thankyou. Thank you, Tim
i love all the RED...especially the berries!~ yummy yummy!
