Owls Head General Store

#164B Strawberry Pie, original watercolor, 9" x 11"
We're in Maine this week. Paris will just have to be patient and wait a bit...

In fact we're in Owls Head, a tiny village about 10 minutes outside of Rockland.

The Owls Head General Store and Post Office make up the whole of the town.

And they're just a hop away from the watercolor workshop, so when it's time for lunch this is where we head. The sandwiches may be the best in Maine :)
Everything is deliciously home-made. Oatmeal cookies and milk anyone?
Oh and pumplin Whoopie pies!
Here's where you pay...Mustn't forget the blueberry cake made with those tiny native Maine berries...
YUM!
The Owls Head Post Office is next door just in case you should need a landmark to find the General Store...
Back in town at the Lobster Festival they were selling old fashioned candy apples. #163B Candy Apples, original watercolor, 9" x 11"
I can't remember when I last had one of those...
Back at the workshop the cats anxiously await our return. Maybe we'll have a snack or two for them?
BONNE JOURNEE!

  1. Ooooh, lovely watercolors, Carol! Your time at the workshop was time well spent. Love those candy apples, and this first painting is just lovely. The cats in the window are a riot. Sounds like a quaint little town.

This strawberry pie painting is so feminine and delicate--I love it! Great job on this one Carol--the shapes are all perfect, and the little strawberry tart is luscious.
    I want that stand.
I have a pretty one sort of like it and Joe uses it to put his coffee bean bags on it.
    DUH. Such a man! ;))

I love the candy apple painting--it's beautiful and luminous, first of all, Carol, but it brings back such nostalgic memories, too. And...of course, there's that cute little bluebird perched there which brings a smile...

OK, just take a minute to review your title today:
    Owls Head General Store
Yup. Now, in the interest of truth in advertising, the owls do not run the general store. It's the general store in Owls Head. I'm sure you get my drift. This probably says way more about my psyche than I wanted to.
The candy apples are absolutely to die for. (I can't stand 'em) I can see the gooey coating melting down the sides of the one of the left. Poor blue bird. I'm afraid he's stuck to that goo till someone pulls him out. Please save him.
