Salon International de l'Agriculture 60eme edition

Yesterday the SALON D’AGRICULTURE OPENED!

I’ve been going since 2013.

Giant cheese 🧀 in the Metro all week have a hypnotic effect

Whispering take ligne 12 🐄 to Porte de Versailles so I went 🤸‍♂️

This year I started off in Halle 5.2

French territories like Guadeloupe, Réunion, Tahiti, d’outre-mer.

Toute Tropicalia 🌴 🥥 🥭 🎵

A big party 🎈atmosphere. The rhum is flowing with much sampling

You cannot resist hand-churned coconut 🥥 sorbet (5€) from Réunion

Best thing you ever tasted ❤️ No kidding. Not icy 🧊 like most sorbets.. Much creamier & not too sugary. Anyone from Réunion here who
know the secret?

A
warm, crispy, flaky Portuguese Pastéis de Nata, fresh from the oven is a must (still 2.50€)

So much VANILLA! This one Tahitian. Always a contest which is better - Madagascar or Tahiti 🤔 Do you have a favorite?

I got the Sicilian olives on the left (34€ a kilo)from this condiment seller. Solli was in Sicily recently. Now I want to eat everything Sicilian 🙄 Does this happen to you?

I should have waited till I got downstairs and bought directly from the Puglia stand…
A little cheaper (29€ kilo) & looks fresher. Qui sait?

Isaw cloves from Mayotte in the Indian Ocean and got all excited.

In November I had a horrible cold with constant coughing. PBer Ginni told me to chew on cloves. Now I add 2 cloves to my tea ☕️ daily and the hacking cough is gone 👏 Maybe a good idea to buy them directly from the source non?

Along with regional stands, regional restaurants serve lunch - fondu from Swiss le Gruyère stand nearby.

Alsatian menu

Sample demo plates

Visitors chomping down on le jarret de porc/ham hocks.

Jambon de Parma sandwiches..

This post is making me soo hungry. You too? I’ll go back for Salon du Fromage and maybe to get cloves & more COCONUT SORBET 🍦 I didn’t see any
protesting farmers, but plenty of people wearing farmer 👩‍🌾 hats…in sympathy? The Agriculture Salon on through March 3, is an annual harbinger of Spring and so worth a visit 👍 Thanks for reading Parisbreakfast. If you enjoyed this newsletter share with a friend.

  1. I always enjoy your Salon D’Agriculture posts! Cloves must have many benefits. I knew people who sucked on them when they were trying to quit smoking.🗼❤️

I usually start with French products in Halle 2 & 3 and go last to Halle 5 - French terroirs where it’s always jumping and less product brand-oriented. So much eye candy.
Course today I’m too exhausted to do anything 🤷‍♀️
      I’ll go back tomorrow.
And I always go to the top floor and work down

PS lately I’m obsessed with olives - so much flavor. All the controversy over adulterated virgin olive oil confuses me. At least with olives they can’t mess about.
“Therefore one can eat them before bedtime if one wishes to have a healthy nighttime snack. In addition, they balance blood sugar, help you feel fuller, and aid in a good night's sleep.“ 👏👏

Have you ever studded a fruit (lemon, orange, apple) orange 🍊 with cloves and hung it in your kitchen from a ribbon or twine? They smell amazing. Dorrance

Zanzibar has some of the oldest clove trees in the world, and Zanzibari cloves have a significantly higher percentage of essential oils (15-18%) than cloves from other parts of the world. Their essential oil content is so high that they are used locally as a natural substitute for anesthesia.

I know! Like she was doing me a big favor.
I asked for 200 grams. She gives me almost 400 at 11€ She was not happy giving me the amount I asked for 😕 And I was their only customer!? 🤷‍♀️

I use vanilla from Madagascar ever since I learned that buying it helps preserve the (endangered) lemurs.
