Fête des Vendanges 🍷 Montmartre

GRAPES OF MONTMARTRE

For 5 days this weekend you can drink 🍷 yourself silly

Hurry up!

You can still run up there today

For a glass of

France 🇫🇷 finest wines 🍇

We took the funicular up to the top

Saving ourselves for the food walk

Les Parcours

Du Gout/

The Journey of tasting.

Almost all regions

Of France 🇫🇷
Are represented.

I got some delicious black olives 🫒 from

Nyons
, renown for their olive oil.

The melted cheese sandwiches 🥪

Looked so tempting…

Are you into saucisse/sausages & fromages

You will be in heaven. That kid had a big chunk 🧀 in his mouth.

Plenty of generous tastings.

One of our gang eating on Sacre Coeur steps

Like an Ingres Odalisque.
I see everything as a painting 🖼️

These spinach tartes looked so tempting…

Seafood menu

I wished I hadn’t eaten that foie gras sandwich and saved myself for the moules.

I went to the fête in 2014, but I still don’t know how to pace myself 🤷‍♀️

They do have actual vineyards 🍇 in Montmartre producing bottled wine 🍷

The Montmartre weekend celebrations include parades and naming a queen 👸 for the harvest.
Maybe you will make 🍷 it to Montmartre next year?

I was there one evening in early Septembre for the fourth time in my life. Hadn't visited in over 30 years, tho, and was disappointed not to seee scores of artists on the streets. That's how I always pictured it.

The artistes 🧑‍🎨 are always clustered at PLACE DE TERTRE 🎨 at the very top of Montmartre.

We were lucky to go on Friday when the crowds are manageable.
      Sunday is overwhelming

Next time I will def try it
I know nothing about TOMME AIL DES OURS.
La tomme à l'ail des ours est un fromage à pâte pressée non cuite, le plus souvent élaboré à partir de lait de vache (ou de brebis), dans lequel sont incorporées des éclats de feuilles d'ail des ours frais.

I really want some of that Tomme right now. Your posts make me so hungry- so glad they don't have calories or I would be an elephant.

I credit you with getting us to our first Montmartre fête, it was Breton. We ate our weight in huîtres & kouign amann! You are so great at sussing out fêtes, Carol!

The Montmartre vineyard is very small; across from Lapin Agile. Good thing they have wines from all over France or there wouldn’t be much! Glad you had a fun day with your gang!

    Love your Sacre Coeur watercolor❣️

Thanks for the exact location..I forgot.
They changed the food route this time instead of going down the hill, it was very twisty-turny 🍷 still plenty to sample

I saw that vineyard when I first visited and wondered what the wine would taste like. Inquiring minds want to know!! Love your painting and loved seeing the fun you got up to with Dee Ann last week!!!

The wine 🍷 produced is famously awful from hearsay. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I remember getting so drunk there back in the old days that I had to keep talking to my feet and say “Feet, get me home.” MM
