Sleep Aides (mask, plugs, tape) |
A timely exhibition at musee Marmottan,
Sleep walk from room to room in a trance-like state - the velvet-covered walls and floors are very effective.
And more sleeping cats like Gwen John’s sketch ✍️ Cats are beautiful sleepers…
A David Hockney dachshund snoozing.
A messy bed has many stories to tell by Eugene Delacroix.
The broad expanse of the birthing bed painted by Sorolla of his wife enjoying her sleeping newborn.
A favorite painting by Felix Vallotton in the exhibit. Love ❤️ thé color blocking.
How is your sleep? Peaceful I hope🤞

This is a LONG video on SLEEP, but worth a listen from Dr Rhonda and sleep expert, Dr Michael Grandner.
What a fun exhibition! We won’t be in Paris to see it, but I can learn more about the paintings thanks to your post.
ReplyDeleteIt’s on through March 2026. Plan a trip! I’m glad you like it. It’s rather eclectic but then maybe not since everyone sleeps 😴
DeleteHa! It is a hot topic, especially as we get older. The randomness of the collection makes it very interesting, imho. Thanks for the preview, you always take the best photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks but in fact the exhibit is not random unlike my photos. Each room deals with a particular area of sleep, dreams, nightmares, death, hypnosis etc.I did not find the audio guide necessary. It’s a more personal experience without it imo.
DeleteThanks for sharing. I love the rosie color in your painting with the ear plugs, what are the other objects?
ReplyDeleteAn eye mask, foam ear plugs and surgical tape. I tape my mouth at night (postage stamp size). You sleep better and no dry mouth in the morning 🌞
DeleteAh, interesting. I think there’s scientific evidence that breathing through one’s nose is also much healthier.
DeleteExactly. Your nose can filter out bad bacteria 🦠
DeleteYour mouth can not.
From the book 📕 BREATHE: The New Science of a Lost Art by James Nestor.
Thank you!
DeleteVery interesting exhibit- I love the Musee Marmottan and have a wonderful memory of walking there from the Bois des Boulonge on fall afternoon.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very special museum and not normally too crowded. Their cache of Monet water Lillie’s and other of his pictures 🖼️ is a surprise ending to every exhibition.
DeleteI love this museum! I used to stay at a small hotel in the 16th and could easily walk to it -- sort of "my" neighborhood! Thanks for memory.
ReplyDeleteThé 16th is not a hot tourist destination imo, but definitely an upper crust residential area, so fun to explore the Art Nouveau architecture.
DeleteThank you for this interesting post! the park area is the Fall..oh to be there..more pictures of Fall Paris parks? I have been in Paris mostly at this time of year..leaves turning and use of cozy sweaters and hot tea..
ReplyDeleteLeaf 🍁 turning here is nothing like New England or even NYC. The trees are different but there is some of it.
DeleteI didn't know sleep is a "hot topic" these days. Thank you for sharing the art
ReplyDeleteYou probably have no sleep 😴 issues. YouTube is full of expert talking heads and there is a constant flow of sleep books 📚
DeleteWhat an interesting idea for an exhibition! Would be fun to go and see the different themed rooms, great to get an overview from you - Carol’s highlights.
ReplyDeleteI often use an eye mask but haven’t really liked ear plugs. Didn’t know about the tape, that’s interesting to help you breathe through your nose!
James Nestor is all over YouTube, author of the book 📕 BREATHE: the new science of a Lost Art. You sleep deeper with your mouth closed.
DeleteEar plugs are to block out noise.
The eye mask is new but def keeps me sleeping longer.
This was different. Interesting and the walls and floors are wonderful as I felt relaxed looking at them. Lynne
ReplyDeleteYes, I could have fallen asleep 😴 on the spot
