Art Nouveau Jewelry at l’École des Arts Joailliers

 

All these Art Nouveau doors have kept my head in a swirl

On Friday I went early to the Art Nouveau jewelry exhibition at l’École des Arts Joailliers around the corner from Place Vendôme.

Almost 100 pieces 

Gathered 

From private collections 

And museums.

Delicate display cases reflect the organic, swirly lines of Art Nouveau movement.

I wish I’d seen this lecture video in English (offered in French too) before I saw the exhibit

Or before I did the post…Brooches, combs, pendants, rings where fauna and flora are illustrated 

With plant patterns, flowers, insects & other creatures made from stones, metals and other precious materials.

The catalog had related Art Nouveau artworks not in the exhibit

This Odilon Redon poppy was in the exhibit. 

I was seduced by the natural curvilinear forms to paint this golden pendant.

All these curves & swirls sent me out for a pain au raisin

The exhibit closes September 30 & reservations are complet, but R. said just show up…there can be cancellations 🤞

I got there early (the exhibit opens at 11:00 am) & went wandering around Place Vendôme 

Cartier at #21 has a red chariot offering OJ for those patiently waiting

I wonder if ‘Holly Go-Lightly’ would have waited for an OJ?
