Salon Coqs d’Or, Petit Design Katsumi Komagata, Maison de la Culture du Japon

On Sunday, even though it was rainy, overcast and I forgot ligne 14 doesn’t run on Sundays, I went to the annual Salon des Coqs d’Or
It’s def one of the creme de la creme of foodie events in Paris. A superb collection of top French artisanal producteurs. Many never come to Paris except for this pre-Christmas tasting salon.

Black Saturday, Green Printemps

Yesterday I went to buy more stamps for your Paris letters. Thank you PBers ❤️

Which always takes me by the big department stores like Printemps to browse a bit.

November Paris Opera Letter

While some of you will be stuffing your turkeys 🦃  for tomorrow’s Thanksgiving dinner, I’ll be stuffing envelopes 💌 with the New November Advent Letter💌

I’ve been thinking about the November Advent letter all month and going round Paris doing research.

Why I ❤️ Ibis

I almost always stay at an Ibis in France

So easy. Très reasonable. No complicated egg-boiling machine either 👍

Rendez-vous du carnet de voyage, Clermont-Ferrand

Best laid plans etc. You think you’ve figured out all the angles

I even did a test run yesterday to Paris-Bercy station on ligne 14, the fastest metro in Paris, because last time I went in 2019 to Rendez-vous du carnet de voyage in Clermont-Ferrand I got awfully lost in the pitch dark finding the station…the train always departs at 6:57 am (a 4 hour ride to the l’Auvergne). You miss it, you’re toast.

Made In France/MIF expo, Porte de Versailles

Last year when I went to the annual Made In France/MIF expo 🇫🇷at Porte de Versailles (on through Sunday), I never found the Gastronomie section.

This year I got directions and made a bee-line 🐝

A Japanese Bestiary, Maison de la Culture du Japon

A new show just opened at one of my favorite small museums in Paris ; a Japanese Bestiary at Maison de la Culture du Japon.

Organized with the Edo-Tokyo museum, more than 100 works of art showing how animals were integrated into quotidien life in Tokyo (18th - 19th century).

Fine Arts Paris Biennale, Carrousel de Louvre 2022

A pet monkey and dog are arguing amidst delicious chaos. Still lives are trending this Fall since the Louvre’s major exhibit, Les Choses opened. Painted by Flemish painter Jan van Kessel, a painter active in Antwerp in the mid 17th century, born 1629. It did not indicate whether it was the younger or the elder? He did paint a lot of bugs also.

Yesterday I went to a preview of the preview for Fine Arts Paris held in the
Carrousel de Louvre and on view through Sunday, the 13th.

Chocolate is good for you, Salon du Chocolat

I went back to the Salon du Chocolat on Monday to see what I had missed opening night like this giant sculpture by Francois Daubinet. Is it really made of chocolate? The Answer: OUI from M. Daubinet 👏

There were many chocolate sculptures. Animals are always a favorite. So far no one had taken a bite.
