Mélodies Graphiques

Yesterday I ran to marché Baudoyer on rue Saint Antoine to buy a wreathe. I want my studio to smell like a pine forest.

For some reason French Noël trees do not smell piney. Why? Meredith Mullens bought a wreathe and said her place was a veritable forest. But no luck at the marché. I’ll keep looking.

On the way home a stop in Merveille de Fred. Remember when there were only meringues in Paris and NO macarons? I still love meringues and got two(1,50€ each). Munch, munch.

I continued down to 10, rue du Pont Louis-Philippe, a street loaded with treasure shops.

None more delightful than papeterie Melodies Graphiques

An Aladin’s cave of treasures.

I don’t know...

If they ship internationally.

But you can try. Bonne chance 🙏

I peeked inside.

What if I could put a wax stamp on your Paris Letters 💌? How divine, but I don’t think my envelopes are sturdy enough..are they?

Meet adorable Osia. She went shopping today at Chanel. Dogs and cats are flocking. Are the Winter Sales on? The Paris grey day view from bus 72 coming home. Is there a Parisian shop you’d like me to visit if I can? Please be good and stay safe dear PBers 🙏🐻❤️

  1. Such a lovely shop, Carol. Indeed, an Aladdin’s cave full of treasures, as is their website. Thank you for taking us to Melodies Graphiques at a time when we are unable to visit in person. You have a knack for finding these delightful shops and bringing them to us.

I hope that your quest for a fragrant wreath succeeds! In the meantime keep fueling your search with meringues❣️

  5. A perfect Parisian shop - thank you for bringing it to us. I think your readers would enjoy a holiday visit to Debauve & Gallais' original store on rue des Saints-Pères - such a classic!

  6. Do the French purchase artificial Christmas trees and greenery? I miss the fragrance.
Certainly Melodies Graphiques deserves a look inside! It is a mystery...is Santa trying to get into one of those tiny houses?
I hope you get a chance to see the department store windows. If so please share with us.

    😊

  7. Please tell me more about the booklets in the pink caddy. The picture with Bonne Chance under it. Are the covers paper? Is the design 3 dimenisional? What is design made of? How did it feel if you touched it?

  8. WOW! Todays post was over the top. I love meringues also and wandering in Melodies Graphiques always a delight. I always used wax with my initial as a teen and thought I was so glamorous. Your sketch of Osia makes me want to cuddle her and the photo of the Seine is romantic in a dreamy way. Almost all shops in Paris are fun so any you want to visit are a treat for those of us who can't right now.

I've been receiving "Paris Breakfast" for about 5 years. I love it- particularly now during Covid. These days I relish each photograph. I've been in Paris many times, the longest for 1 month when I stayed in an apartment in the 16th. Your photographs bring back so many memories.

    A lovely post as always!

A shop I think you posted about a long time ago specialized in parasols. Near Deux Maggots? We missed it on our last visit in 2014. I’ve wondered what a beautiful parapluie would look like…and cost!

  22. That paper store is, perhaps. my favorite store. I have purchased things out of that very same box and wish I could purchase what is in that box in the photograph. Thank you for taking all those photos. It made me happy and wistful at the same time.

Envelopes do not need to be sturdy to take a ‘wax stamp’ or a seal as we Brits call them. I have a signet ring with my initials deeply engraved and reversed so I can seal something, but only when I am feeling truly ostentatious. The use of seals goes back almost a thousand years, perhaps longer, and of course something sealed should uniquely identify the individual. So part of the fun is to devise your own seal, or crest, and to use that. But beware the hot wax......
