Salon International du Livre Rare - Grand Palais

There is visible smog in Paris from the fires. Big Merci ❤️ to West Coasters who wrote and thanked me for mentioning the fires. I’ve met many in Paris. It’s nice to meet more. I hope things turnaround for you ASAP🙏

Last night was the preview of the Salon International du Livre (on thru Sunday and free entry). Its always a wonderful show full of surprises. You’ll find what you are looking for and much more. Attendees kept their distance and were masked.

What to wear? Something dust-proof and bookish.
Save the bookmarks I send out PBers. They could be worth a bundle someday!
Meet Cristalle Gonzalos, owner of Paris specialist bookshop,
Librairie Sur Fil de Paris at the end of rue Saint Paul near the Seine. She carries all things Paris, speaks English and does mail order. Hooray.
I fell hard for this long illustrated panarama scroll of 19th century rue de Rivoli (25€)in her shop window. She sends these out also as a poster.

Its a constant source of inspiration on my studio wall.
Another scroll also at Cristelle’s booth.
Another favorite was the collection of Bouquinistes art in the association’s booth.
Especially the kid trying to paint Notre Dame onsite..tell me about it.
Someone mentioned Concorde looked deserted. Not so. It is bustling as ever. Like toute Paris. I’m going to Craig Carlson’s new book celebration at Abbey Bookstore tonite. Full report to come. Paris sends ❤️🐻PS

  1. Love the gent in the linen blazer.Watched a charming reportage yesterday (part of)..
on TV5 Faut pas rever..Isle -Sur-La-Sorgue..they followed an artist who bought walking canes..he told us he was working on a project..Le Festival de Cannes:)
Then they brought us to his artist studio to watch him finish his project a large frame w/ several gorgeous cut off canes displayed at different angles..His festival de cannes..
I know.. off on a tangent but the cane led me to my latest memory of canes;)

    1. Not at all...I heard a director say one of his actors needed a cane so he went off to Paris, found a shop and wanted to buy 6 canes for $6000!
They bought ONE cane...was it Marlon Brando or Robert deNiro?

  4. Oh, of all the exhibits, this is the one I'd want to visit most. It looks divine. Like Monique, I loved the fellow with his natty outfit! And oh, those scrolls. I am such a sucker for that. I fear I would get in big trouble there!

So very glad to see the pic you have sent in Paris breakfast that shows that there are still folks who do love classic style. That is part of what I miss about Paris because I do see more people dressed there in styles that appeal to me. Just so tired of the dress down extreme casualness .Want to see Classic dress included in the mix!
Thank you so much for your pics ! Enjoy yourself in Paris for all of us.
